Description

If you’re an aspiring alpine climber looking to gain experience by climbing an accessible peak, then join me for a climb of Mt. Emerson’s southeast face in the lovely wilderness of California!

Mt. Emerson, with a summit at 13,225 feet (4,031 meters), is an impressive peak that is nevertheless suitable for beginning climbers.  Located in the John Muir Wilderness in Inyo National Forest and named for poet Ralph Waldo Emerson by Muir himself, the Waterfall Route on the peak’s southeast face is a popular 5.4 climb (Grade 2) and can be completed in a single day.

This is the perfect opportunity for you to climb with a professional guide, enjoying the stunning natural beauty of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains as you build up your technical skills and climbing knowledge.  After a short approach to the mountain, I will guide you through the initial section of the climb, where most of the technical climbing occurs over the first 2-3 pitches.  Then, we scramble over granite for the next 1,500 feet of the ascent.  After the scramble is complete, we will traverse the final ridge slowly and carefully.  Finally, we have reached the summit, where we celebrate our accomplishment before making our way down the mountain!

Book now and I guarantee a fun and exciting day outdoors! We will explore a beginner-friendly mountain and take in the view from its summit, at more than 13,000 feet!

Patrick took me out to the Indian Cove! Loved the short approach and couldn’t asked for better weather. Patrick recommended great pitches where I could try new stuff like chimneying. Would definitely book again if I go back to JTree!

We had an excellent time with Chad on our multi -pitch day in Joshua Tree. My partner and I have some experience climbing sport routes, but had no experience with trad climbing or multi-pitch routes. Chad is a great instructor and led our routes with ease. We felt confident in his abilities to keep us safe and have fun. Will definitely book again with him.

We booked through Ryan, and Daniel was our guide - absolutely brilliant, very down to earth and knowledgeable. The climbs themselves were awesome, with insane views. My partner is an experienced indoor climber, and I have close to no experience, especially outdoors, but still felt safe and in good hands. We did a half day, which was 5hrs, and got 4 climbs in, then stayed after the tour to walk around a bit more and have some snacks with a view (make sure you take food/water as there aren’t any shops inside the park). Definitely recommend.

Our guide, Spencer, was fantastic! He tailored everything to our exact needs, and we now feel equipped to climb outdoors without a guide.
