Join me on this beautiful adventure through some of the most amazing valleys in the Los Glaciares National Park as we head to Piedra Negra, the Fitz Roy's massif base camp.
We´ll start our journey from Rio Electrico river, just 18 kilometers away from El Chalten. From there, our paths will take us through the river's amazing valley from where we can enjoy beautiful views of the Fitz Roy Massif and then move into the Patagonian Andean Forest. Finally, we will face the hardest part of the day, the 900-meter ascent to Piedra Negra. As we go up, we will be rewarded with stunning views of Lago Eléctrico and valley, the Marconi glacier, and the entrance to the Patagonian Icefield; in front of us, we will see the granitic cirque of the Fitz Roy Massif.
The trail will take us continuously through high mountain terrain and old glacier moraines. Finally, we´ll arrive at the Piedra Negra base camp, which is the starting point to climb many of the spires in the area. From there, we'll enjoy views of the granitic cirque, and the northwest faces of Guillaumet, Mermoz, and Fitz Roy, as well as of glaciers, and lagoons.
To join this tour, prior trekking experience and very good physical condition are required. We'll hike for around 11 hours and climb up to an altitude of over 900 meters. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you on the way.

I love nature and doing outdoor activities. I've been practicing climbing, trekking, and mountaineering for more than 17 years. I climbed and did mountaineering in California, Spain, France, Perú and Patagonia.
I'm a Range Trekking Guide since 2011 (Guía de Trekking en Cordillera EPGAMT), organizing ascents, treks, and camping trips, and above all enjoying the wonderful places that nature gives us.
I've been living in El Chaltén for more than 10 years. I fell in love with this town where I have a perfect life balance: I can work in nature, climb, go to the mountains, and share all this with other people.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
