Description

Have you always dreamed of hiking in the Northern Japanese Alps in Spring? If you have, this 3-day trip from Kamikochi to Mt. Chogatake might be just for you!

Kamikochi —a mountainous resort in the **Nagano Prefecture—**is home to some beautiful hiking trails in the North Japan Alps.

Starting from the valley of Kamikochi (1,500 meters), we’ll make our way through terrains blossoming with alpine flowers due to the Spring climate, until we reach Yokoo. After a half-day of hiking, we will settle into our accommodation for the evening.

The next morning we will rise early and climb to Mt. Chogatake (2,677 meters). Along the trail, we’ll be surrounded by stunning 3,000-meter high peaks and enjoy views of Mt. Fuji (3,776 m) and Mt. Yarigatake (3,192 m).

We’ll spend the night on a mountain hut with an impressive view of the Matsumoto city area. The following morning, we’ll rise early to hike back to Kamikochi and depart.

For this trip, you need to be in good physical condition.

So, if you have been fantasizing about hiking in the Japanese Alps, come join me on this hiking adventure!

Or, check out this Autumn trek that I lead from Kamicochi to Karasawa Cirque.

Hiking Guide

I love nature. I love cycling, hiking and climbing.

I have worked in Canada, joined the MTB race in Africa, and traveled to Central America, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Everywhere, I've tried to see as much nature as possible. Nature is so different in every country and I find that immensely moving.

I believe that Japanese mountains are one of those places that you must visit at least once. Since Japan consists of small mountainous islands, you can experience many different landscapes almost at once - cities, small villages, flat lands with beautiful rice fields (rice is the foundation of Japanese culture), lush forests, green mountains and rocky mountains.

Nagano is the most mountainous prefecture in Japan and best place to see nature and go hiking and biking. That is why I now live in Nagano, helping world travelers enjoy the nature and culture of Japan.

Come visit Japan and have special experience in Nagano with us.
