This trek will take you to the summits of three of the region's most famous peaks: Mt. Shirouma (2,932 m), Mt. Shakushi (2,812 m), and Mt. Hakuba Yari (2,903 m).
This trek is recommended for experienced hikers only, as it requires a high level of fitness and technical skills. The terrain is challenging, with steep ascents and descents, and the weather can be unpredictable.

Meeting point
Start your day with a bus ride to the Tsugaike Sizen park. From there, take the gondola and lope way up to Hakuba Ooike, a beautiful alpine lake at an elevation of 2,380 meters.
From Hakuba Ooike, it's a steep hike to Mt. Korenge, the highest peak in the Hakuba mountains at 2,766 meters. From the summit of Mt. Korenge, you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
After lunch at Mt. Korenge, continue your hike to Mikuni Zakai, a mountain pass at an elevation of 2,751 meters. From Mikuni Zakai, you'll have your first glimpse of Mt. Shirouma, the mighty peak that you'll be summiting later in the day.
Finally, make your way to the summit of Mt. Shirouma, the third-highest peak in the Northern Alps of Japan at 2,932 meters.
After taking in the views, descend to the Shirouma Hut, where you'll spend the night.
Start your day early at the Shirouma Hut and set off on a challenging hike to Mt. Shakushi, a peak at an elevation of 2,812 meters. From Mt. Shakushi, continue your hike to Mt. Hakuba Yari, the second-highest peak in the Hakuba mountains at 2,903 meters.
From Mt. Hakuba Yari, you'll take a branch trail to the Hakuba Yari Spring Hut, a mountain lodge located at an elevation of 2,100 meters. The Hakuba Yari Spring Hut is a great place to stop for lunch and a rest before continuing your hike.
After lunch, continue your hike to Mt. Obinata, a peak at an elevation of 2,337 meters. From Mt. Obinata, it's a steep descent to Sarukura Hut, your final destination for the day.
