This Two 4-thousander ascents in Penitentes will take you up to two beautiful peaks in the Andes.
So in this opportunity I’ll guide you to the summit of mount Penitentes (4350 m) and mount Guimón (4238 m). Both peaks are known for their amazing views.
Penitentes is a small town, with a ski resort, located 170 km west of Mendoza. The town, and the mount, gets their names from some rock formations, that look like monks on a pilgrimage to a cathedral. And they are especially beautiful in winter, when they are covered in snow.
So the first day we’ll cross the Las Cuevas River and hike up to the beginning of the Quebrada Vargas. Then, the next day we’ll hike up to 3200 meter, where we’ll set our base camp. And the following 2 days will be summit days!
This will be an intense journey and you should be on good shape, so your able to do 2 summits in following days. But it doesn’t requires a lot of mountaineering experience.
