Description

The Norwegian fjords are increasingly in demand for skiing adventures. Stryn, in central Norway, is one of the best areas. It connects the south with the Sunnmore Alps. Join me for a ski touring week this season!

Thanks to the action the Jostedal glacier south of Stryn, the clouds here are cooler and thus create considerable amounts of snow. A true Norweagian paradise! The terrain is mainly simple, with wide slopes and only occasional steeper sections.

To start this program, we will fly from Zurich to Alesund. Then, we will drive towards a ferry that will take us over the Storfjord, to continue our way. Finally, we will arrive at a private mountain hut right at the Strynvatnet lake – a beautiful location.

As from Day 2, the real adventure starts. I will guide you on the way to different peaks and slopes. All ascents are usually between 3 and 5 hours. This includes different fjords, like the Geiranger, Hjørund and Nordfjord. Some of the intermediate peaks we will climb are:

Eidskyrkja (1,482m)
Sunndalsnipa (1,395m)
Gulkoppen (1,306m)
Skarsteinfjellet (1,566m)
Sætreskarsfjellet (1,604m)
Hornindalsrokken (1,529m)
Glittregga (1,297m)

On Day 8, we will return to Alesund to take a flight back home.

You will need normal ski touring equipment, suitable for crampons and LVS. Groups are between 2 and 6 guests.

In our hut, Ulrica will prepare breakfast and dinner, included in the price. The price also includes the Zurich-Alesund flight, and return. Departures from Germany and Austria are also possible upon request. Early bookings might me eligible for business class plane tickets.

Finally, note that cancellation insuarance is compulsory.

Mountain Guide

I became a professional mountain guide after discovering that mountains and wild nature meant the life to me. In 1983 I completed my studies and started an amazing journey. I have been constantly on the road ever since, up in the Alps and on mountains and trekking areas on every continent.

Before I started taking guests on tours, my wife Ulrica was my climbing partner. Together, we spent many autumns in the Klausenpass climbing walls. After our daughter Heidi was born, she started coming along on our tours around the world. Later, our son Thomas and daughter Christina would join us. Even later, our granddaugther Jana came into our lives. All three of our children have become mountaineers as well. I am proud to say that world-strolling is in their blood too.

Having led groups in the Alps and other parts of the world for a long time, I witnessed how the alpine mountain landscape changed over the years. When I started off, we had to cook in the huts for ourselves. We now see suites, whirpools and saunas. Technical difficulties up in the mountain are mitigated with chains and wire ropes - a new way to live the mountain in a time-saving manner. Climbing routes that were inaccessible before have now been made open for the general public.

My heart lives for having more and more original natural experiences. This is the kind of experiences that have made us addicted to the mountain. I continue to strive for taking my guests off the beaten and better-known tracks. This is my commitment to you. I hope you can join me soon!

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice.
