The island of Kvaloya is located in northern Norway, west of Trömso, in the Atlantic Gulf Stream. It is an amazing skiing site, where the season goes from December to May, or even June. Join me for a ski touring 9-day program in this magical scenery of winding fjords.
Note: Check out my other 5 ski touring programs available in Norway below.
To begin this program, we will fly from Zurich to Tromso. Once there, we will drive towards Ersfjordbotn, on the island of Kvaloya. There, our traditional "Hytter", cottage, will be waiting for us.
As from Day 2, I will guide you on different routes, all of them easily accesible with short trips. Among the possible slopes we can aim for are:
Gråtinden (871m)
Kjølen (790m)
Lille Blåmannen (844m)
Steinskardtinden (817m)
Some steeper slopes are those on:
Durmålstinden (921m)
Buren (802m)
Middagstinden (1006m)
Skitntinden (1042m)
the magnificent Hollendaren (1017m)
and the Nordfjellet (1000+ m), on the nearby island of Ringvassøya
On Day 9, we will return to Tromso to fly back home.
The terrain on this tour consists mostly of wide slopes, with only occasional steeper sections. Climbing times are usually between 3 and 4 hours.
You will need to bring with you normal ski touring equipment, with hard ice and LVS.
Breakfast and dinner will be prepared daily in the Hytte by Ulrica. The price also includes the flights from Zurich to Tromso, and return. Departing from German or Austrian airports is also possible upon request. Early bookings might also be eligible for business class tickets, subject to availability.
Also, cancellation insurance is compulsory.
Note that this is a special price valid for bookings requested before November 19th, 2017. For later registrations the price is CHF 3380.- per person.

I became a professional mountain guide after discovering that mountains and wild nature meant the life to me. In 1983 I completed my studies and started an amazing journey. I have been constantly on the road ever since, up in the Alps and on mountains and trekking areas on every continent.
Before I started taking guests on tours, my wife Ulrica was my climbing partner. Together, we spent many autumns in the Klausenpass climbing walls. After our daughter Heidi was born, she started coming along on our tours around the world. Later, our son Thomas and daughter Christina would join us. Even later, our granddaugther Jana came into our lives. All three of our children have become mountaineers as well. I am proud to say that world-strolling is in their blood too.
Having led groups in the Alps and other parts of the world for a long time, I witnessed how the alpine mountain landscape changed over the years. When I started off, we had to cook in the huts for ourselves. We now see suites, whirpools and saunas. Technical difficulties up in the mountain are mitigated with chains and wire ropes - a new way to live the mountain in a time-saving manner. Climbing routes that were inaccessible before have now been made open for the general public.
My heart lives for having more and more original natural experiences. This is the kind of experiences that have made us addicted to the mountain. I continue to strive for taking my guests off the beaten and better-known tracks. This is my commitment to you. I hope you can join me soon!
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
