Climbing Mount Triglav (2864m)
Mitja is an incredibly experienced climber that gave us great confidence in climbing a challenging peak for me and my brother. He was very accommodating and went over and above what's expected of him to ensure we had a memorable experience. Due to poor weather conditions he recommended we delay the start of our climb and instantly adjusted the itinerary to ensure we were not impacted whatsoever. He also took great photo shots as we were climbing the mountain!

Mount Triglav 2-day guided climb
My ascent of Mt Triglav with Rok went very well. The group reached the summit successfully. It was the right decision to go for it on the same day that we had walked up to the hut. I felt safe all of the time with Rok and I would look forward to climbing with him again sometime in the future. The other members of the group were very pleasant company.

Mitja led us up Mt. Triglav in September 2016 and we had an amazing time. Mitja and his company were exceptionally professional at every step of the way. The team answered all of our questions promptly and prepared us well for the hike. Throughout the two days, Mitja was an attentive, knowledgeable guide. There were four of us in the group with varying experience doing a hike like this, and Mitja ensured that we were all safe and in good order throughout. We couldn't believe how lucky we were to have such a knowledgeable, skilled, thoughtful guide leading us up Triglav and I would recommend Mitja and company to anyone. You could be in no better hands.

Mount Triglav 2-day guided climb
We had a fantastic experience with Rok. We booked a 2 day trip to climb Mt. Triglav in June, 2015. The first 2/3rds of the ascent were pretty easy. During this part Rok was less of a technical guide, but was very valuable in setting a good pace to reach our hut on time, knowing when to stop for rests, knowing where the next mountain spring was to refill our water, and providing us with some information about the social history of the area, and some natural history about the mountains and forests we were walking through. It really increased my appreciation for the area and helped me enjoy the trek that much more. On the second day we climbed to the summit, and this is where Rok's experience and guidance proved invaluable. The trail led us along numerous ridges, with shear vertical drops on either side, and near vertical climbs up shear rock faces, some with, and some without a via ferrata to tie off to. I found it quite nerve-wracking, and would not have been able to do it alone. Rok was very calm and reassuring the entire time, giving gentle reassurance and encouragement, which really helped. In addition, he took our safety very seriously which gave me the confidence to continue to the summit. The landscape and scenery around Mt Triglav is absolutely stunning - I have a fantastic time, and would not have been able to enjoy it (or complete the trek even) without the help and guidance of Rok - he really does rock (I've been waiting this whole review to squeeze in that pun). I could highly recommend Rok and Vertical Adventures to anyone looking to do some exploring and adventuring in Slovenia.

Mount Triglav guided winter climb
(Trip Date: end of Apr 2017) The ascent was unbelievable, spectacular, frightening and shocking at times. We didn't expect this kind of ascent but eventually we did a good job. Pitty about the weather though, very foggy, couldnt see a thing... The guides were very good (peter & luca). They did a great job! The price of the cabin near the top is a little crazy (50pp) at the end we had to pay for the water we ordered during dinner. It was also suuuuuper cold in there so we decided to sleep in the eating room on the benches. Overall, great experience! We couldnt stop talking about it during our stay in Ljubljana! One tip: give a more clear explanation about the ascent, difficulty, heights. For us it went OK but can imagine that some other people with less physique or dare will find it hard! Also some clothing of my friends were not ideal. Especially the boots and the gloves were not always suited for the second part of the climb!

We had two fantastic days at and around Triglav. The weather was perfect with almost no wind and a bright deep blue sky and it was a great experience to trek in the deep snow. Mitja did a solid job as a guide. He was knowledgeable and caring, but at the same time honest about the possibilities of the group. It is not the last time we visit the area.

Climbing Mount Triglav (2864m)
Mitja is very experienced with Mt Triglav, who gave us useful tips along the way to make the climb more doable. At the higher parts of the mountain where it was still snow covered, Mitja took care to dig deep little steps in the snow so that we could safely follow him. When we reached our hut at the end of the first day, Mitja told us that snow was still covering the via feratta towards the top of Triglav, and he gave us the option of taking a less dangerous path that would also give us a similar experience of walking on the mountain ridges for the next day, instead of ascending to the top. Hence even though we regrettably did not make it all the way up to the top, we really enjoyed the second day's descent, with parts where we slid down the snow in pure glee! We will definitely be back at a better season next time, and will make it to the top for sure!

Mitja is a great guide encouraging but cautious when appropriate. In our case that meant we did not do the final leg to the summit because of looming thinderstorms and the risk of lightening strikes. Despite this our group had a great experience on what is a very impressive and beautiful mountain. The night at the refuge hut near the summit was also memorable and very convivial.

Triglav private guided climbing tours
Klemen is an excellent guide, with an intuitive feel for the mountains. He speaks several languages and his skills and experience are second to none. He first climbed Triglav when he was 7 and has over 40 years experience in Mountains, including 15 years in Mountain Rescue. You could not be in sounder, safer or better hands. Klemen brought my wife and I up Triglav in one day, we stayed the night in the Kredarica hut and went down the next morning. We’re not experienced climbers but are reasonably fit. Many people had told us that it was too windy, too cold to go up the mountain. Because of this, we wanted an experienced guide. Unless you’re a very experienced climber, I wouldn’t recommend going beyond the hut in any weather. It is exciting, scary at times and challenging… but it is so incredibly worth it, without a doubt the highlight of our holiday and year. We learned so much and have amazing memories! Klemen emailed us in advance to check we had the right gear and met us in Mojstrana (we had a rental car and it was easy to find & leave the car). He provided us with crampons, because he sensed they would be useful in the conditions. Many people didn’t have them, but we were very grateful we did. This is just one example of how well he understood the Mountain and how extra prepared he was. He brought us up quickly through the forests and highlighted the best place to get water and take photographs. He suggested when to add layers, and taught us many tips for walking, hiking and scrambling. At the hut, he acted as translator, ensured we got food and that my wife and I had a room to ourselves. Klemen brought us up the Triglav late afternoon, he ensured we had the right gear and tied rope round us and made sure we had the crampons on right. We had a harness on but didn’t use in the end, as we didn’t need to and we moved quicker without it. He kept pushing us, which was a good thing and took some photos along the way to help us remember the occasion. He would teach us the right way to do things, and ensured even we we felt challenged we were always safe. After descending, which is tricky too for novices, he went back to make sure people still on the mountain got down safe as it was getting dark. Klemen is fit, and will be able to match any pace you can go. He’s happy to answer questions and can alter the route as required (we went down the mule route for parts to avoid scrambling sections). On the morning, when we saw people climbing up Triglav we noted how the conditions were different and how tricky it would have been to pass other groups. We were very glad to have climbed it the day before, plus it made the evening a lot more relaxing and allowed a few celebratory beers. Klemen even brought us for tea/coffee after we got to the bottom and had lent me mountain boots as well as providing tape, after I had got blisters from walking. Unless you’re familiar with climbing Triglav, I would definitely recommend a guide. You get so much more out of it, learning and adventure wise, but mostly safety wise. Talking to Klemen you realise how experienced he is in terms of climbing, how much he loves the mountains, how he’s taught his kids climbing and skiing, and how well he is respected. Klemen knows many mountains well, especially the Alps (climbed Mount Blanc over 60 times). Triglav is spectacular, and we’d definitely recommend getting a guide and there’s no better guide than Klemen. ps we looked at a few providers, and Explore Share were not only best value (price wise) but they were also great at keeping in touch and re-assuring us that we could make it to the top. A great service. Thanks

Amazing time with Mitja. Despite the severe weather conditions (wind and low visibility) we have made it to the top as the only climbers that day - from 20 trying! Triglav is not easy in such conditions. You need to be tough yourself. Mitja makes perfect evaluation of your physical strengths on 6h walk up to the hut. Always on top and sharing knowledge and stories from his lifetime. I would recommend to everybody with at least medium physical shape. See U soon on the summit!

We had a brilliant trip with Mitja climbing Triglav. He is a fantastic guide - extremely knowledgeable about Triglav and the best way to climb it. We did the whole ascent in one day, stopping at the hut for a few hours to have lunch while it rained. We then summitted in the late afternoon where the clouds cleared and we had a beautiful view. We hiked back down from the hut the next day after a lovely evening in the hut. It was a great time of year to go - less crowds and enjoyed hiking in the snow. We thoroughly recommend doing the trip with Mitja or his team, he is very experienced, friendly, considerate and made our trip even better than we had hoped. Thank you again!

Definitely would recommend. I had a unique situation where I stupidly gave Mitja the wrong address to pick me up in the morning for the hike. I didn't have an activated phone with me nor was I near wifi, but Mitja put in way more effort, than I ever would, to get a hold of me in order to set me up with another guide that was heading up to the hut later that day. My hike up the the hut with our other guide Igor was awesome, he answered all my questions and gave me lots of advice for travelling within Slovenia. I have no comments on the guide. We were passed around between what ended up being 3 guides. I really enjoyed the climb, but I felt a bit duped and undervalued. I signed up with 1 guide after reading his profile. Then I was passed to a 2nd guide and then finally a 3rd guide with very little warning. He ended up being great, but it didn't make me feel valued. Also, I thought I had paid for the mountain hut already in the price but apparently it wasn't included. A bit of an unpleasant surprise. The rating I would give is a 4 out of 5 for the guide we had, Danilo. I will absolutely still consider Explore-Share for future adventures, so my experience wasn't soured that much.

We had a fantastic experience climbing Triglav via the Blato Meadow, the seven lakes valley and back. Climbing Triglav from Blato Meadow
As soon as we decided to spend our holiday in Slovenia, we wanted to climb Mount Triglav. We both love hiking, but didn't have any climbing experience, mostly because of the lack of mountains in the Netherlands ;). Therefore we searched for a guided trip and found the two-day trip through The Seven Lakes Valley on Explore-Share. Mitja was not available on the date we preferred, so Blaz Stres was our designated guide. The e-mail contact prior to the trip immediately felt good, Blaz closely monitored the weather forecast so we wouldn't be raided by a thunderstorm or heavy rain. Our trip started at 5am and during the trip we gradually found out what an experienced mountaineer Blaz is. While we struggled on the steep parts and had to catch our breath several times, Blaz strolled with one hand in his pocket, totally at ease. At a certain point the weather got a bit rebellious and we walked in the rain for 3,5 hours (rain is something we DO have in the Netherlands, so nothing we couldn't handle), but after a while we were totally soaked. Blaz kept reminding us to only have quick breaks and keep on going, because hypothermia was looking around the corner. Eventually we arrived at the Dolic hut, where we would stay overnight, and it took us a while to get dry and warm again. The next day we started our climb to the top, Blaz explained everything and helped us with the climbing gear. We climbed for 1,5 hour and suddenly we saw Blaz standing before us, with his outstretched hand and a big smile on his face, saying: "Congratulations, you made it to the top!". Although we were pretty fast going up, our descent was rather slow because of a twisted knee, but Blaz kept us motivated (“It’s always an hour”, “We really ARE getting closer!” and “It’s only 100 horizontal meters”). When we finally got back to the car, with very muddy shoes, Blaz showed us the ultimate Slovenian hospitality by letting us put our feet in a garbage bag. For a safe, fun and unforgettable climb on Mount Triglav, we recommend everyone to do a guided trip with Blaz!

It was the first day with “autumn weather “ since summer started. Mitja tried his best to make the right decision for us about when to go to the summit. We went the first day, unfortunately without a view from the summit but it was a good decision as the next day was very windy and freezing cold. Gloves, hat, poles were provided by Mitja. He us on a different way back so we would still have a great view almost similar to the one on the top, this route was amazing! Thanks Mitja It was super!

Climbing Mount Triglav (2864m)
Leaving climbing Mt Triglav until late 50s and my nervousness about heights are both understatements. However at all times with Mitja and his crew of expert full-time guides (Rok, Igor and another) I felt in highly experienced, safe and capable hands. We had perfect weather so walked to top hut near Triglav and summitted in one day. It was challenging, scary and highly rewarding. I was in a mixed age and abilities group of 13, some of whom were ill-prepared mentally (some delusional that they were going out for an easy two day Hill walk) and physically. But all made it to the top easily and triumphantly. Well done Mitja and guide crew. Thanks Ash

Climbing Mount Triglav (2864m)
Mitja is a well qualified expert guide, jbut more than that, he’s a good people-person and risk manager. While he’s introducing you to the countryside during the steadily incling walk up the former glacier/Kemal valley, he’s also assessing each of the groups’ strengths and weaknesses, forming sub-groups based on the optimal mix and the weather conditions. Even though he does this twice a week in Summer, you can tell he loves his work and interacting with people. The when we’ve arrived at the 2000m hut, he switches into safety, security and risk manager mode behind the scenes to ensure the final 800m via-feratta ascent to the summit goes without a hitch and to ensure each ‘guest’ gets maximum outcomes. To do this he uses a team of guides (Rok, Igor, etc) who take 3/4 guests and rope you together for the final climb up Triglav. I have to say, while I have a fear of heights (yet I’ve parachuted and abseiled/respelled) and my butterflies and toes were tingling all the way up, I felt very safe and secure throughout. My grand daughter was also born that day so I yelled a welcome to the world message off the top of Triglav for her. What a great day on many levels. Thx Mitja and team

Climbing Mount Triglav (2864m)
Climbing Mt. Triglav with Mitja and Roks was a truly enjoyable experience for me that I would cherish forever. They are extremely organized, helpful and full of humor that made the difficult journey to the top so easy. Even though I was the slowest in the group, they made sure that I reach safely to the destination and enjoy the trek thoroughly. Mitja's repeated advice on being relaxed and not to think much over the hurdles on the path while trekking was one of the valuable takeaways. And I thank them thousand times for offering such a memorable trip in Triglav. For those who are thinking of climbing Mt. Triglav, I can reccommend Mitja and Roks anytime as guides to have a safe and comfortable journey.

1) The guide : Really nice person, and experimented climber. I always felt safe with him. He had a plan A and a plan B, if the plan A was too hard for me. 2) The trip. First time mixt climbing, and i really enjoyed it. The slovenska route is more funny to climb than going to the summit from the hut ! So i really recommend going with Luka anywhere you want to go, especially because there are so nice mountains in Slovénia

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour, met with all my expectations and beyond. Our Guide was excellent and provided an excellent experience. The hut was great and the staff there so helpful. We did have a little issue with the start time/date of our hike. I’m not sure if that was to do with the timezone in the southern hemisphere when we booked our climb. To be frank we didn't really got what we wanted. We got Igor as a guide but he acted more of a babysitter rather than a true guide for us. The climb up to Triglav is not safe and we wanted a guide to ease the planning bc we didn't have enough time to prepare, and maximize safety while keeping our wishes in focus. We are not the easiest folks to guide as we are used to do stuff on our own. The guide does a good job if your only concern is safety and you're willing to blind trust people and not asking questions. He will drag you to the top and back. One big mistake he did, he never asked what we expected he never gave directions, or explanations, we only got to follow instructions and got short answers when we asked. We needed to challenge him at the end to get what we wanted and then he wasn't happy about it. We understand why, but we needed something else than we got until that point. The other thing is that we had an unfriendly guide in a hurry on the way down from the hut, day2. For us that hike would have been better without him. When it's said he did everything he was expected to do by himself fine (apart from day2), nice service at the hut and otherwise.

Climbing Mount Triglav (2864m)
Igor was a very nice guide. He did a good job leading our group and making sure that the slower ones were taken care of. It would have been helpful to have him lead group introductions before we got started and also provide a small briefing of the timeline, itinerary, mileage, and how meals and payments would work. In the future, it would be a good idea to ensure the registrants have experience with mountain hiking and a general level of fitness. Two members of our group were clearly unprepared for what the trek would entail. Perhaps in the future, it would be good to either have the meals at the mountain hut included in the trip cost or allow the registrants to purchase food completely separately from the guide (instead of having the guide organize this). Both the hike and the summit climb were incredible! I appreciate Igor and Luca’s patience in ensuring the safest timing for summiting, and I also appreciate Igor allowing some of the group members to run ahead when some of the others were moving slowly. Overall, it was a great trip. I would recommend this to any of my hiker friends!

Unfortunately due to bad weather we had to turn around at 1900m on Triglav. It snowed heavy the day before the climb so the snow was also over a meter deep.
