In 2010, he obtained the UIAGM/IFMGA certification. He has a lot of experience in the Andes, where he normally guides and climbs. He also guided in Europe and Nepal, and made personal climbs in Europe and USA. Actually he lives in Puerto Varas, south Chile.

After meeting in the capital, we will head into this scenic mountain range, eventually arriving at some of the **best ice climbing terrain in the Southern Hemisphere.** We will set up camp nearby and spend the night in the tranquil and scenic Andes.

During the climb, you will learn new skills and techniques depending on your level of expertise. **No prior ice climbing experience is required**, but some experience in rope management and a good level of physical fitness are recommended for this trip.

As you might imagine, the weather in this region is generally pretty cold during this time of year. It’s not usually stormy, however. This means we should be able to spend all day climbing!

3 days of Ice Climbing Around Santiago, Chile

Bolivia is a country full of contrasts, from plateaus and highlands to incredible jungles. During **this 17-day expedition** you will have the opportunity to climb three of its highest and most representative mountains, all of them as part of the spectacular **Cordillera Real**.

First we will visit the amazing Titikaka Lake, where we will acclimatize our bodies and then move to the Cordillera Real. Once there we will start the ascents of the peaks **Pequeño Alpamayo, Condoriri, Huayna Potosí** and the majestic **Illimani**.

Here below I’d like to share with you a sample day by day itinerary:

_Day 1: Meeting in La Paz_  
_Day 2: Transfer from La Paz to Copacabana_  
_Day 3: From Copacabana to Isla del Sol (Titicaca Lake)_  
_Day 4: Isla del Sol – Tiquina – Condoriri Base Camp_

_Day 6: Rest day_

17-day climbing traverse in Bolivia’s Cordillera Real

Would you like to participate in a **stunning skiing adventure in the Andes?** Then join me in Chile for a **backcountry experience near Santiago**!

Santiago, the capital of Chile and one of the largest cities in South America, is a **popular tourist destination**. Flanked by the main chain of the Andes and the Pacific Ocean, it offers **quick and easy access to the best skiing areas of the country.**

**For this backcountry adventure, I will pick you up in Santiago and drive you around 50 kms to La Parva or Valle Nevado.** **Valle Nevado and La Parva are both part of the Tres Valles (Three Valleys) region**, which also includes El Colorado resort. The mountains in this area receive top-quality snow during the winter, and offer **many untracked areas to explore**.

Depending on the weather conditions, we will climb **Cerro la Parva or/and Cerro el Pintor** and find some amazing powder terrain. From then, we will enjoy exciting descents on narrow couloirs and steep slopes!

On the other days, we could visit the **Cajon del Maipo** area, a beautiful gorge located an hour and a half southeast of Santiago. This scenic area, home to El Morado Natural Monument, offers awesome untracked terrain that you will explore under expert guidance. We will have a nice ski on the base of San Jose volcano and its surroundings.

Please note that this trip is for good skiers: you don’t need to be an expert in the backcountry, but you should be able to face any kind of ski resort piste. In addition, a good fitness level is necessary to join this activity.

This trip is open to all fitness levels, but those in better shape will have a more enjoyable experience. It will last for 8-9 hours, and basic ice axe and crampon skills are not required.

1.  First up is **Lonquimay Volcano**, named after the Mapuche word "lonco", which means "chief". This active volcano achieves an impressive height of 2,865 meters (9,395 feet) and has a crater that is about 700 meters (2,300 feet) wide. Get ready to descend a thrilling path surrounded by layers of ash, lava, and other volcanic debris.
    
2.  **Llaima Volcano** is another active volcano, located in the Southern Volcanic Zone of the Andes. This iconic cone-shaped stratovolcano rests in the Conguillío National Park, standing at a total height of 3,195 meters (10,482 feet). You will be able to admire stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including the Andes Mountains and the city of Temuco, once you reach its summit.
    
3.  Our next destination will be the famous "smoking mountain"; the **Villarica Volcano**. Its slopes offer a variety of terrain for skiers of all levels, which makes it a very popular destination. This 2,847 meters (9,337 feet) high giant is one of the most active volcanoes in Chile and has erupted several times in the past, most recently in 2015.
    
4.  **Mocho-Choshuenco** is a glacier-covered compound stratovolcano in the Andes of Los Ríos region. Rising to an incredible altitude of approximately 2,400 meters (7,874 feet), the volcano boasts two prominent peaks, namely Choshuenco and Mocho. These twin summits stand as iconic features of the volcano, each contributing to its unique allure.
    
5.  Finally, **Osorno Volcano** will be waiting for us as we reach the end of our trip, with an imposing height of 2,652 meters (8,701 feet). Located on the southeastern shore of Llanquihue Lake and overlooking Todos los Santos Lake, Volcano Osorno stands tall as a symbol of the local landscape. Its commanding presence makes it a renowned landmark that draws tourists from far and wide. In fact, Osorno is often regarded as the defining element of the region.
