Description

Would you like to take part in a hiking and swimming program in the stunning Mediterranean? Then come with me on this tour in Crete and discover the nature and culture of the biggest island in Greece.

I invite you to enjoy a whole week exploring the natural and historical sites in Crete. One of the main attractions of this program will be to hike around different gorges, such as Aradena, Agia Eirini and Samaria. These gorges are situated in the western side of the island, in the region of Chania. Also, we’ll explore the Omalos plateau, Mount Gigilos and the Marmara beach. In addition, we’ll have the chance to visit the cities of Rethymno and Chania.

If you don’t have lots of hiking experience, you don’t need to worry. The hikes on this programs are easy and we’ll be constantly combining them with swimming. Our hikes will have a duration of around 3-6 hours each day of the program. As for the accommodation, we’ll spend the nights in lodges and hotels. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Heraklion and transfer

Day 2: Rethymno - Loutro

We’ll drive to the city of Rethymno and explore its beautiful streets. Then, we’ll go to the village of Vrysses and have lunch. We’ll continue to Chora Skafion and then hike to the Loutro beach, where we’ll enjoy swimming. Accommodation in Loutro.

Day 3: Loutro

On this day, we’ll visit the Aradena gorge and the Marmara beach. Here, we’ll have the chance to see some of the local animals and to enjoy swimming. Night in Loutro.

Day 4: Agia Roumeli

On day 4, we’ll sail to the Agios Pavlos beach and then continue to Agia Roumeli, where we’ll spend the night.

Day 5: Samaria

On this day, we’ll explore the Samaria gorge and enjoy hiking for around 6 hours through a beautiful natural area.

Day 6: Sougia

We’ll go to the Agia Eirini gorge and get to the village of Sougia, which offers us an amazing view from the sea. We’ll enjoy swimming and then continue our hike to Lissos, where we’ll visit an amazing ancient sanctuary. Finally, we’ll drive to Omalos.

Day 7: Mount Gigilos - Chania

Day 7 will be the day of Mount Gigilos from where we’ll contemplate an amazing panorama and then head to Chania. Here, we’ll visit some of the city’s main points of interest and then return to Heraklion. Night in a hotel.

Day 8: Sightseeing in Heraklion and transfer to the airport

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland.
