Join Grajales Expeditions and admire Aconcagua from the Condor’s perspective on this 6-day trek to Plaza Argentina, Mendoza.
Come and visit Plaza Argentina, one of the main base camps in the East Face route to the Aconcagua summit, in Mendoza.
The Aconcagua (6,962 meters) is the highest mountain in the Western and Southern Hemispheres. Climbers from all over the world come to reach its majestic summit.
We’ll start our tour in the City of Mendoza. I can pick you up at the airport or bus station if you need it.
During these 6 days we will go across the Vacas Valley and visit three different base camps of the mountain: Pampa de Leñas (2,950 meters), Casa de Piedra (3,240 meters) and Plaza Argentina (4,190 meters). As you can see, we will be gradually getting higher as the trek progresses.
Some of the wonders you will see during this trek are the Polish Glacier and the East Face of the Aconcagua. What’s more exciting is that at the end of the tour we will return from Plaza Argentina to the trailhead flying in a private helicopter!
Please find a more detailed itinerary below and remember that you’ll need a good level of fitness to join this trek.
So what are you waiting for? Request to book and prepare to be amazed by the Andean landscapes, on this 6 day trek to Plaza Argentina.
Hotel Ayelén in Penitentes
The program on day 1 begins around 9 AM, in order to have enough time to check your gear and obtain the trekking permit before noon. Please schedule your arrival accordingly (I strongly recommend being in Mendoza the day before).
Pick up at the airport. We’ll drive for 3 hours to Los Penitentes (2,580 meters) and spend the night at the lodge.
We’ll drive to Punta de Vacas. From there we’ll start the hike and, after 4 hours, we’ll reach our first camp: Pampa de Leñas (2,950 meters).
We’ll hike for 6 hours to Casa de Piedra (3,240 meters), our second camp. You will admire the Polish Glacier and the East Face of the Aconcagua.
Through Relinchos Valley, we’ll get to Plaza Argentina (4,190 meters). We’ll enjoy a meal in the base camp.
Day to rest and explore in Plaza Argentina.
We’ll arrange the helicopter flight and you’ll admire the Andes from the Condor’s point of view!
We will land in Horcones and drive to Mendoza to say goodbye.
Back in 1976, Fernando Grajales Expeditions was granted the first license to operate mountaineering services at Aconcagua. Its founder, the legendary mountaineer Fernando Grajales, applied the same concepts of safety and ethics to his company that he applied to his own climbing expeditions. In a few seasons, the company became a trademark and a synonym of Aconcagua.
Four decades later, we are proud to continue breaking trails under the same clear Andean skies, ruled by the same transparent principles.
Today, Fernando Grajales Expeditions continues to be a family owned local company, committed to our team and to our community. At the same time, we work to keep a global perspective regarding innovation and service standards.
To us, “fair trade” means simply to do things fairly, as we always have. Our goal is to create safe and successful mountain experiences for our clients, whether they are mountaineers that utilize our fully guided expeditions or international agencies that trust us with their logistics.
