Description

Laguna Esmeralda is a beautiful lake located less than 20km from Ushuaia and a real attraction for hikers seeking a stunning water vista. Deep valleys eroded by glaciers thousands of years ago set the scene for this trip and you won’t be disappointed!

Surrounded by mountains Bonete and Toribio the views are endlessly amazing at Esmeralda. We will venture through forest and bog land typical of this area before we reach the lake.

You will be instantly seduced by the colour of the water and how it reflects the beauty of the surroundings on its surface. You will very likely observe the local beavers busy in the dams and see how they interact with the ecosystem.

This trip is of low difficulty requiring about 5 hours of hiking that will cover about 9.4km and 160m of ascension. I will be ready with my camera to take your photo and seal your memories of this spectacular location.

I came here at the end of Winter, so it was still snowing and the lake was unfortunately frozen with snow on top. However, the hike had amazing views with a very knowledgeable Guide. Pick up was on time and all information was given to me as needed. Highly recommend.
