Description

I have designed this program for skiers and backcountry leaders who are looking to improve their avalanche skills, and sharpen their decision making. This Avalanche course follows Level I, which is a prerequisite to take Level II.

The goal of this course is to give you the skills and confidence to be able to plan and lead backcountry (or off piste) skiing trips. This includes knowledge on:

  • Documenting test profiles and field observations

  • Forecasting instability and danger

  • Addressing human factors

  • and conducting multiple-burial companion recovery

The duration of this Avalanche Course is of a total of 40 hours, divided across 4 days. We will have some classroom lectures (in Park City), followed by field sessions (in Deer Valley and the Cottonwood Canyons backcountry). Activities each day will be between 8am to 6pm.

To join this program you will need substantial backcountry (off piste skiing) experience. You will also need to have completed the Avalanche course Level I.

Who usually takes this course? Ski patrollers, winter search and rescue teams, mountain guides, and other serious winter mountain travelers.

If you are ready for this Avalanche course in Utah Level II, request your booking! Have a look at other programs in this area, such as: Wasatch Peaks, 2 Day Climbing Expedition Seminar, Salt Lake City, 3 Day Ski Mountaineering Seminar, and this Utah Ice Climbing Day Course for all Levels.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS TRIP IS ONLY PROPOSED ON THE DATES LISTED BELOW.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
