Highlights

  • Enjoy a breathtaking but accesible climb in the heart of the Swiss Alps
  • Climb with amazing views of iconic peaks such as Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
  • Gain experience for challenging alpine objectives such as Eiger's Mittellegi Ridge

Description

Located in the Bernese Alps, the Eiger Rotstock is a 2663m rocky summit, a fantastic viewpoint to admire mythic peaks such as Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

There are several routes to get to the summit, including the West Ridge. This is an ideal climb to have as preparation tour before tackling Eiger Mittellegi Ridge, or to get introuduced to alpine mountaineering.

The Eiger Rotstock West Ridge is a IV grade multi-pitch climbing route, that takes around 3 hours to climb, usually enjoying the sun. Once in the summit, the descent is shared with the also well-known via ferrata “Eiger Rotstock”.

In terms of requirement, this trip is suitable for those with some previous climbing experience, or a will for mountaineering/climbing. It is an 8 pitch route on limestone in the breathteaking shadow of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Thi is THE climb on behalf of an easy daily access around Grindelwald/Wengen/Lauterbrunnen in the Heart of UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch. Even if the climb may look exposed to vertigo, it is not at all, it is very enjoyable!

Starting point is Grindelwald Terminal, leaded by Eiger Express on top of Eigergletscher, and from there we reach the beginning of the climb in 20 minutes.

What people are saying about Hans-Christian

Robert

Really appreciated Hans’ communication throughout. Giving different options depending on the weather. I was thankful that he recognised my climbing level and did something suitable for that. When the climbing day came it was absolutely epic. Hans led us over to Jura for 2 exhilarating climbs. His instructions and safety techniques were precise and well presented. And his knowledge of the area was top notch! Would definitely recommend and use him again!

Dennis

Hans-Christian was an awesome guide! He helped me figure out the logistics of where to stay and good places to visit while in Switzerland. He was also a great climbing guide, knowledgeable and safe and willing to teach. I learned a lot!
