The EPGAMT guide from Argentina, Agustin, wants to invite you to a wild and uncrowded area of Central Andes. A full day hike from Uco Valley that offers an unique Patagonian scenery you won't forget in your life!
The Uco Valley is located 40 km far from Mendoza capital along the North face of Tunuyán River.
What I am proposing today is a trekking tour for those beginner hikers looking a unique experience among an Andean route. During this full day expedition you will also enjoy the pink spires and rocky walls that create an unforgettable landscape.
Here below you can find an estimate itinerary of the program.
We’ll reach the trail-head by 4×4 vehicles once we pass the Gendarmerie station. Once in there, the great adventure begins. We’ll start to walk through ancient paths of more than 4.000 meters of height in Portezuelo de los Piuquenes. In this area, you can feel the essence of an ancestral memory because it is one of the first connecting routes between Argentina and Chile.
The trail have some moments of uphill hike (about 3 hours). Then, we’ll pass a great glacial moraine. Now it’s time to have lunch and rest for a while next to a nice lake.
By the afternoon we will return to the starting point so that we can head back to Mendoza or, why not, to spend some more days in Uco Valley.
