Mount Fuji, located about 100km south-west of the capital Tokyo, is Japan’s highest peak and a spectacular natural phenomenon. At 3,766 m (12,355 feet) of altitude, it is the second-highest island peak in Asia. Featured within Japanese mythology, this dormant volcano is one of the ‘three holy mountains’. Mt Fuji is heavily intertwined in Japanese culture.
Here’s your chance to explore this magnificent wonder in the company of a local and internationally certified mountain guide.
Our meeting point will be in the charming city of Gotenba, nestled on the southeastern flank of Mount Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture. From there, we will start our journey towards the majestic mountain.
We will begin hiking at the crack of dawn on the Fujinomiya route, known for its shorter duration compared to other paths. Typically, this route allows climbers to reach the summit within an estimated time frame of 5 to 6 hours.
The summit offers stunning views of the surrounding area. On a clear day, you can see for miles in every direction, including Mount Asama, Mount Bandai, and Mount Hakusan; the views are simply breathtaking.
This one-day climb is a challenging hike that takes 7–9 hours to complete. It is best suited for experienced mountaineers who are in good physical condition. The climb is not recommended for inexperienced hikers or those who are not confident in their physical fitness. Prior experience with mountaineering equipment is essential for all participants.

Ski Guide
I was born in Tokyo and grew up skiing in Hakuba, Japan. Throughout the years, I have visited Alaska, Peru, Patagonia, New Zealand, Nepal and Canada for winter climbing and backcountry snowboarding.
In 2012, I became the first Japanese person to pass the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides's ski guiding course on a Snowboard. I have been guiding in Japan (Hakuba Nagano and Mt. Fuji), New Zealand and Canada for over 15 years.

THEO
Matthew
Yusuke was an awesome guide. He has hiked Mt Fuji more than 500x. Since he knows the mountain so well and because he is really good at understanding the capabilities of the client, he set the perfect pace and we had an awesome experience.

We climbed Mount Fuji at the end of May (off season). Despite a majority of our party having no previous ice climbing experience, we were able to make it up to the summit and back, and had a fantastic experience. With years of experience guiding, Yusuke knew exactly what pace to set, and was a very stoic encouragement the whole way up. Highly recommend, especially for smaller parties.

While the initial comms with the guide was slow, pre trip comms, planning and the actual day was fabulous. We had flexibility to do what we wanted according to skill level and weather/snow conditions. Felt challenged but safe at the same time.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
