Description

Would you like to discover some of the most amazing hiking spots in Europe? Then join one of the guides on our team on this 4-day adventure in the Julian Alps and in the Dolomites.

We will begin our adventure in Slovenia, where we will visit the area around Mt. Krn (2244 m) and the Krn lake, which is the largest in the Julian Alps. This stunning range is located in the Southern Limestone Alps and spans over an area of 4400 km². After spending the first 2 days in this beautiful location, we will head to the Dolomites in Italy for the second half of our adventure. There, we will start off below the awe-inspiring Tres Cime de Lavaredo and discover the beautiful, circular Monte Paterno route and stroll around the beautiful surrounding trails and meadows. You can find a detailed itinerary of the program below, and keep in mind that we can also arrange to start off from Italy if you wish. Whichever side we start from, you will be amazed by the breathtaking landscapes of the Julian Alps and the Dolomites!

Please consider that this is an intermediate hiking adventure. Therefore, it is necessary that you be in good shape in order to join. Of course, we will be there every step of the way to make sure that you are safe.

Price details

Not included: Transport on the trip and from your hotel to the meeting place and back which must be paid in cash upon arrival (10 – 60 EUR per person). Half-board accommodation in the mountain hut or hotel for guide and clients are not included in the price.

Itinerary

Day 1: Lepena Valley – Krn Lakes – Mt. Krn

By prior arrangement, I will come looking for your hotel and take you to the Alpena Valley (700 m), where our start for Mt. Krn. The easy route from here leads to the mountain hut Gomiščkovo zavetišče na Krnu (2244m), where we have reserved half board.

Walking for 6 – 7 hours. Altitude differences for around 1544 m.

Day 2: Mt. Krn – Planina Kuhinja

After breakfast at the mountain hut, we will still walk the trails around Mt. Krn. At the end of the tour, we descend to the Planina Kuhinja. We spend the night on planina Kuhinja in a beautiful mountain farmhouse, where we have reserved half board.

The walk is 4 – 5 hours. We will do almost 1400m of descent.

Day 3: Misurina lake – Monte Paterno – Hut Locateli

After breakfast at the mountain hut, we will drive towards the Dolomites to Lake Misurina, a mountain village below the Tre Cime (about 3 hours drive). From Misurina, we will head towards Rifugio Locatelli, at an altitude of 2438m (7,998 ft.), where we spend the night. The plan is to hike the circular path of Monte Paterno.

The hike takes around 4 – 5 hours and we will see a 900m (2500 ft.) altitude gain.

Day 4: Hut Locateli – Tre Cime – Misurina lake

After breakfast at the mountain hut, we will walk the circular route around the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. At the end of the tour, we will descend again towards Misurina Lake.

Walking is about 4 – 5 hours and about 1400m downhill.

If you wish, I can take you back to your hotel in Slovenia (3-hour drive)
