Description

The stunning Julian Alps offer plenty of great hiking options in the Triglav National Park. Today I’d like to invite you to join me on a hut-to-hut trekking for 1 or more days, with the option of climbing Mount Triglav, the highest peak in Slovenia.

This is a flexible program, so we can plan an itinerary for as many days as you wish, depending on your fitness level and time available. Bear in mind a  reasonable fitness level is required for you to fully enjoy the hike. It is also possible to follow a family-friendly itinerary, in case you would like to come with your kids and they are fit enough.

Triglav National Park is located in north western Slovenia. Mount Triglav (2864m) stands almost in the center of the park and it is the highest mountain in the Julian Alps. Along our hike, we will be sleeping in small mountain huts which offer simple accommodation and typical Slovenian food, enjoying spectacular views over alpine valleys and mountains, wildflower meadows and beautiful lakes.

If you choose to join me on a 4-day trekking tour, we can take the Vogel cable car from the beautiful Bohinj Lake (526m) to the Komna Hut (1520m) on the first day.  We will hike through enchanting alpine pastures, admiring traditional alpine architecture and lonely summits. Then, on the second day, we will go on a great hike around the spectacular Seven Lakes area, until we reach the Prehodavci hut (2071m).

On the third day, we will hike through Doic to the Planika mountain hut (2401m), with the option of climbing Mount Triglav (2864m), and finally on the fourth day we will descend hiking along the Krma Valley.

This temptative itinerary involves 5-8 hours of hiking per day, but we can make the hiking time shorter, depending on the group level and wishes. We can also easily tailor this option into a 3-day ascent, starting from Blato meadow, and crossing the Seven Lakes to the Prehodavci Hut on the first day.

If you would like to discover the amazing beauty of the Julian Alps in Slovenia, just send me a request. Book your trip and come enjoy a wonderful trekking and climbing adventure.

Mountain Guide

I am a IFMGA certified mountain guide, ski instructor, and sports teacher.

I believe guides do their best job when they guide in the mountains they are most familiar with. That is one of the biggest reasons why I specialize in guiding in Slovenia. I climb Triglav more than 25 times per year, which means I have climbed the most famous peak in my country around 400 times.

If you want to climb or ski in the Slovenian mountains, I am the right choice. I guide via ferrata, rock climbing, snow climbing, ice climbing, hikes, freeride skiing, and ski touring. Most of my summer work involves climbing Triglav, and most of my winter work involves Triglav and ski touring around it.

Slovenia offers good options for all of these activities, so you are welcome to take a look at my trips and find something for yourself. If you don't find anything, let me know, and I will see if I can help you!

I speak English. Ich spreche auch ein bisschen Deutsch. Parlo anche un po' di Italiano e hablo también un poco de Español.

If I am not available to guide you, one of the super experienced guides in my team will be your guide.

Shame about the weather meaning we had to not do what we wanted (including climb Triglav) - but the rest was superb

An absolutely wonderful experience, Mitja was amazing and the consummate professional throughout. The scenery was awesome, including the Fauna. The staff at base camp were great, and we all bonded and achieved, as a team. I’ll never forget it!

Very good information and felt very safe. It can be hard to align the Tempo to a big group, but we were several that thought it was too slow and thought about only book a guide from the hut to the top if there was a next time.
