If you are an experienced hiker with enough confidence to hike up to one of the lower refuges of the Olympus massif on your own, then we can guide you the following day on the next stretch of your tour, and choose together the best route to experience the most famous mountain in Greece.
Starting point options include Refuge A, Refuge Petrostrouga, and Refuge Koromilia. You would need to hike there yourself and spend the night. Then, the following day, we would pick you up and guide you on the alpine parts of the mountain in order to ensure your safety and enhance your experience.
We would pick you up at the hut, then follow the route that we agree on, and finally, return either to the hut or to Prionia.
Some of the routes that you can choose include:
Refuge A – Muses Plateau – Petrostrouga Refuge – Gortsia – Prionia
Refuge A – Muses Plateau – Refuge A
Refuge A – Mytikas Peak – Refuge A
Petrostrouga Refuge – Muses Plateau – Refuge A
These are some suggestions, but we can create a flexible itinerary and vary the duration of the hike and the intensity, depending on your preference and level. Trail running is also an option.
If you would like to join a semi-guided hike on the Olympus massif, then make sure to contact us and we will make sure to cater to your Olympus dreams!

The good: the guides were amazing. They were extremely professional, friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging. Without them, we would not have made it to the top of the mountain and would have been in so much more danger. Also, hiking greece is very quick to respond to emails for any questions we had, which was very helpful. Also, the trek itself was an incredible adventure that we're very glad we went on. The bad: the description and organization of the trip needs improvement. Firstly, this trip requires a very high level of physical fitness that we were not prepared for, which was not adequately elaborated on in the description. Several other people in our group also felt the same way as us - that we were novices who hadn't appreciated the full scope of what we had gotten themselves into. We had never done any sort of trekking, multi-day hike or mountain climbing before, so did not have a good idea of just how strenuous this activity can be. Also, the list of items we were advised to bring differed between the description on exploreshare, the emails hiking greece sent us, and what the guides actually told us in person on the day we met them. We just brought everything we were told to bring by the emails from hiking greece, which resulted in our backpacks being very heavy, but the day we met our guides they said we should remove many things because we didn't actually need them.

Overall was good. Several things can be improved: 1. Match the price if possible on your site with the one on explore-share. 2. As 95 % of the group go to Mitikas, it makes sense not to charge additional tax for it, but include it in the package. It was also not very clear for me that this is not included in the package. 3. In explore share provide a list of items that we need to bring. Those are small things that can be improved - overall it was great experience, which I highly recommend to everyone.

Vagelis was a great friendly guide tailoring the hike to our higher ability. He also provided us with loads of information about the local peaks/walks, history and hiking culture. He kept us hydrated and safe on the mountain. Hiking Greece was quick to respond to emails and was very professional. They could do with providing a bit more information on what to take and route without having to be promoted. Highly recommend.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
