The 10-Day Short Everest Base Camp Trek is a dreamlike journey in the wildest landscapes of Nepal, where you'll be able to experience the charm of remote villages, the warm Sherpa hospitality and the spectacle of the majestic snow-clad mountains.

This incredible experience in Nepal is the perfect opportunity to unveil the beauty of snow-covered landscapes and challenging narrow trails surrounded by some of the tallest peaks in the world. Our daily trekking expeditions will also introduce you to the heartwarming hospitality of Sherpa communities as you stay in remote villages and relax in one of the multiple cozy tea houses that await you.

Upon arriving in Kathmandu, day one of the trek will start with a warm welcome and transfer to your hotel. Then, the initial leg of the trek will lead you from Lukla to Namche, eventually culminating at Everest Base Camp. Each day of this thrilling adventure will have its unique trekking schedule, guiding you through renowned destinations like Namche Bazaar and the iconic Tengboche Monastery in the Everest region.

In the unlikely event of unforeseen challenges or barriers, we may need to adjust the schedule in order to guarantee the most enjoyable trekking experience possible. It's also important to note that due to higher altitudes and unpredictable weather, individuals with fitness concerns are advised to avoid the longer route.

This is a moderately challenging trek that requires a good level of physical fitness and mental determination. It is a 10-day trek with long climbs, rocks, and challenging terrain. You will need to walk around 6-7 hours a day to complete the trek. If you are physically and mentally prepared, you will have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla

We start with an early flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m). Upon arrival, we'll stop by at one of the hotels, followed by a trek towards Phakding (2640m).

Our path ascends gently along the mountainside, tracing the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. On the opposite bank, Nupla (5885m) looms in close proximity.

As dusk approaches, we'll reach our destination, Phakding. Overnight accommodation is arranged at a tea house lodge.

Day 2: Trip to Namche Bazaar

After enjoying breakfast in Phakding, our trek sets off towards Namche Bazaar (3440 m). The trail goes along the right bank of the Dudh Koshi River, you'll be able to see the majestic Thamserku to the other side.

As we advance, we reach Bengar, and from there, the path ascends from the riverbed on the left bank, leading us through a forest to Chumoa. Progressing with alternating inclines and declines, we'll cross a stream, pass the quaint village of Monjo, and then arrive at the Sagarmatha National Park Service station, where the park entrance fee is paid.

The route continues with a brief stroll along the riverbed of the V-shaped valley, flanked by the Dudh Koshi to the right and the Bhote Koshi to the left. We embark on a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar, along the way relishing splendid views of Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m). Encircled by mountains on three sides, Namche Bazaar (3440m) emerges as a vital nexus for provisions, trekking essentials, and nourishment.

Overnight accommodations are provided at a tea house lodge.

Day 3: Onwards to Tyangboche

Following breakfast in Namche Bazaar, our journey leads us towards Tyangboche (3867 m). The path eventualy descends to the Dudh Kosi River. Along this stretch, we're treated to an expansive panorama of the Himalayas, featuring amazing peaks such as Ama Dablam (6812m), Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse (7855m), and Tawoche (6501m). En route, we'll pass through Trashinga and Phunki Tenga before reaching Tyangboche.

From Tyangboche, you can relish the views of both sunrise and sunset over Everest and Ama Dablam.

Overnight accommodations are available at a tea house lodge.

Day 4: Trek from Tyangboche to Dingboche

Our trek proceeds from Tyangboche to Dingboche (4260 m). Departing from Tyangboche, we descend through a rhododendron-laden forest and enter Deboche. Crossing a suspension bridge over the Imja Khola, we advance towards Minlinggo, eventually reaching the captivating Imjatse Valley beneath the towering summits of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Lhotse. Our journey culminates in Dingboche. Overnight accommodations await at a tea house lodge.

Day 5: Arrive to Lobuche

Our journey leads us to Lobuche from Dingboche, encompassing a moderate five-and-a-half-hour walk. The initial path is relatively gradual until we reach Pheriche village.

During our trek, we'll encounter the grandeur of Mt. Tawache, Ama Dablam, Pokalde (5741m), Kongma-tse (5820m), and the imposing Nuptse wall.

Lunch will be enjoyed at Dugla (4595m) before continuing our trek to Lobuche.

We'll spend the night at a tea house lodge.

Day 6: Arrival at Everest Base Camp

We'll start our day with breakfast in Lobuche and then head towards Everest Base Camp through Gorakshep (at an altitude of 5140m). This leg of the trek meanders through rocky terrain and the Khumbu glacier, offering breathtaking vistas. Remarkably close, we are greeted by the awe-inspiring sights of Nuptse, Lho-La, and Khumbutse.

After visiting Everest Base Camp, we'll retrace our steps back to Gorakshep, where we will spend the night at a cozy tea house lodge.

Day 7: Explore Kala Patthar and Pheriche

From Gorakshep, our next destination is Kala Patthar (at an elevation of 5545m), followed by a trek to Pheriche (situated at 4243m). We'll prepare early in the morning for a Kala Patthar ascent, where we are treated to a magnificent sunrise panorama. The views from this vantage point include a majestic array of peaks, including Mt. Everest, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, and Mt. Thamserku, among others.

Pheriche offers the Himalayan Rescue Association Aid Post, a vital resource staffed by foreign volunteer doctors providing medical care.

Our evening is spent at a comfortable tea house lodge.

Day 8: Tour through Namche Bazaar

On this day we'll trek from Tyangboche to Namche Bazaar (sitting at an altitude of 3440m). The trek spans approximately four and a half hours, leading us through a scenic route. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to explore quaint villages like Khumjung and Khunde.

A highlight of our route is a visit to a monastery that houses a Yeti Scalp. As the afternoon sun starts to set, we finally arrive at Namche Bazaar.

Our evening is spent at a cozy tea house lodge.

Day 9: Trek to Lukla

After enjoying breakfast at the teahouse in Namche Bazaar, we trek towards Lukla, marking the final leg of our journey.

Upon reaching Lukla, we'll have the chance to relax. Our night is spent at a comfortable tea house lodge.

Day 10: Return to Kathmandu

We'll embark on an early flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), our dedicated representatives warmly welcome us and escort us to our hotel.

During the afternoon, we'll be able to partake in a shopping excursion. To culminate our adventure, a heartfelt farewell dinner awaits us at Bhojan Griha, an authentic Nepali restaurant, where we can savor the flavors and culture of Nepal one last time.

We hebben echt genoten van onze trekking naar ABC. Jammer genoeg waren er echter overal problemen met de kamer. We hebben dan expres via een agency geboekt en meer betaald, zodat we zeker een kamer overal zouden krijgen. Dit bleek dan een probleem te zijn, omdat er niets op voorhand was geboekt. Ook hebben we last minute (letterlijk 5 min voor de 1e ontmoeting) een bericht van Hari gekregen dat we een andere guide zouden krijgen. Hierbij kregen we geen uitleg. De nieuwe guide had geen EHBO kit mee en wist ook helemaal niet wat allemaal inbegrepen was in onze boeking. Dit was opzich geen probleem, maar het leek plots allemaal niet meer zo goed georganiseerd als het beloofde te zijn. Ondanks dit hebben we echt wel genoten van onze tocht en zijn we blij dat we het gedaan hebben.
