The following itinerary will show how amazing this trip will be!

Transfer from your hotel or airport (depending on our agreement) to Baguales Mountain Reserve. The drive will take about 1 hour. Once in the lodge we can visit and enjoy the surroundings admiring an amazing sunset behind Patagonian mountains. Dinner and rest in Estancia Rios Villegas.

After breakfast, we get ready to start the horse-riding towards Valle Norte Refuge, crossing the Villegas River in many different moments until we get to the entrance of Valle Norte, where a a hike up to the hut starts. Dinner and rest in Refuge Valle Norte where we can also enjoy the typical Patagonian barbecue.

Early in the morning and after having breakfast, we will hike during 4 hours up to Refuge del Pintado, following the flow of stream of Los Pozones. Then, we will keep ascending until we reach Cerro Catedral foot so we can get to Los Caballos Pass. From that, we will finally hike down to Refuge del Pintado. Dinner and rest in that hut at 1.600 meters of height. An unforgettable scenery of starry ski of Patagia while we drink a cup of wine.

After breakfast, we will start the day with a first trekking hour until we get the place where our horses will be waiting for us to continue riding to the lodge of Estancia Rio Foyel. Once in there, we can rest and relax sharing a welcome snack and enjoying such a landscape. We will also sleep in there. By the following morning, we will start our return to San Carlos de Bariloche city.

About the guide

I am the current director of the GAM-IFMGA courses. I live in the region of Nahuel Huapi and work in Patagonia and the Central Andes. I climbed the mountains Fitz Roy and Torre and climbed on Aconcagua, the Himalayas and the Alps.
I am AAGM Mountain Guide since 2004 and IFMGA Mountain Guide 2005.

I work now mainly for Baguales Mountain Reserve. Only 30 miles south of the city of San Carlos de Bariloche and just one hour drive from the International Airport of the same city, it is a unique place of endless immensity and captivating silence where nature remains untouched.
Boosting innovation, Baguales is a pioneering initiative and the first of its kind both in Patagonia and the Andes Mountains. Throughout the whole year, we offer top quality services in summer and mountain activities in winter: horseback riding, trekking, climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing and skiing. The possibilities of a unique experience in intimate contact with nature are endless.
Because of its immensity, Baguales counts not only on a Lodge and two fully-equipped cabins offering comfort in accomodation and quality in mountain services but also on three unparalleled refuges which have been strategically built in the infinite grandeur of the mountains around.
Baguales, a place where intimacy with Patagonian nature combines with the best quality in mountain lodging and adventure services.

Visit me and experience real wild Patagonia!
