Test yourself with a challenging summit of this isolated high altitude Andean volcano! Over the course of this 15-day expedition, I will guide you toward this very worthy mountaineering goal.
Rising to an incredible 6,575 m, this volcano is the southernmost giant volcano of the Andes, and is located on the border between Chile and Argentina. Due to its isolation, it requires a long and complicated approach, making it a worthy goal for a mountaineer looking for a challenge. Once we reach the base of the mountain, the ascent itself is relatively simple, taking place on a mix of snowy terrain and scree at very high altitudes.
We will set up camps along the way, allowing time for exploration and acclimatization – see below for the day-by-day suggested route. Mules will be used to assist for portions of the approach. For ease of your travel logistics, we will begin and end the expedition at the airport in Santiago. This is a long and demanding program at high altitudes, so participants should have the appropriate mountaineering skills and experience.
Book now and we will enjoy a tough, rewarding expedition on an isolated yet iconic high altitude Andean Volcano!
