Description

This one-day ascent to the Wiwannihorn summit (3001m) is perfect for beginner mountaineers who want to experience the high mountain.

Located in the Bernese Alps, in the Swiss canton of Valais, this mountain is part of the Unesco World Heritage Site in the Swiss Alps. The views of the surrounding peaks are breath-taking and you’ll enjoy a memorable outing.

We’ll meet at the Visp train station and, from there, drive up to 1800m. Then, it’s a 1 hour and a half walk to the Wiwanni Hut, where we’ll take a coffee break. The last stretch to the summit also takes around 1 hour and a half.

We’ll be taking the normal route up Wiwanni to reach the summit. Afterwards, we’ll take the west arete for the descent and do a final 50-meter abseil at the end.

I really like the fact that this ascent can be done without using lifts and without setting foot in a resort. It is a lovely, friendly spot that you can access really easily!

Although you can do this climb as a day trip, you may also choose to stay at Wiwanni Hut overnight. However, please let me know in advance if you’re choosing this option as reservations are necessary. You can also stay at a lovely hotel I can recommend in Ausserberg as well.

You only need a good fitness level to do this ascent. No technical climbing skills are necessary.

Want to join me on this Wiwannihorn climb and get to know one of the most beautiful areas in the Alps? Contact me now and I’ll be happy to guide you to the summit of this beautiful summit.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
