Fontainebleau is located just 60km away in Paris and boasts a stunning forest that is renowned for its cultural relevance, nature preservation, and amazing boulders. On this full-day trip, which can be shortened to a half-day or extended to more days, I will show you the best boulders for your skill level while helping you advance and connect with your surroundings.
Along with being a lot of fun, and wonderfully scenic, this adventure is also very educational. If you are a beginner, I will spend a great deal of time sharing with you the basics keeping your safety and the preservation of the environment in mind. If you have prior bouldering experience, I will also help you improve on your existing skills and techniques ensuring that by the end of the trip you will be a better climber than you were when the trip started. I only offer private guidance, so my attention will be focused on you and on offering you a unique approach to the beautiful Fontainbleau forest.
I incorporate knowledge from the Feldenkrais method, which works on movement, posture, and breathing, to help improve your movement on the rocks. Additionally, I also aim at helping you connect with the natural environment of the forest and to take the necessary measures to preserve the rocks.
While this trip is open to people of all skill levels, due to its physical nature, participants should be in good physical condition.
Fontainebleau is one of the best places in the world to practice bouldering, and offers a different experience every time you visit, any time of the year. So If you would like to enjoy it for yourself, just send me a request. I look forward to guiding you!

Before/after the guided bouldering tour with you, we wish to climb by ourselves. Is it possible to rent crash pads in Fontainebleau?
Yes, it’s possible. You can rent crashpads at:
For the day that we'll spend together, I'll bring the crashpad (s) we need, as well as the chalk.
Is it possible to join a group?
No, sorry, I only offer private guided bouldering experiences.
Where is the meeting point?
If you don’t have a car, we can meet either at the train station of Fontainebleau-Avon or the one of Bois-le-Roi (30min ride from Paris, “Gare de Lyon”). It will depend on where we’ll go bouldering.
If you have a car, we’ll meet close to the bouldering site, which I’ll decide based on your climbing experience, your wishes for this bouldering day together, and the weather/temperatures.
What should I bring with me for this bouldering day together?
You should have with you:
I’ll take care of bringing the crash pads and the chalk.
If you don't have climbing shoes, worry not! The 'Karma' climbing gym, located just 2 minutes away from the train station, offers rental shoes. We can make a quick stop there before starting the bouldering session.
Is it possible to come with children?
Absolutely. I’ll choose the boulders we will climb based on their climbing level, their ages and wishes. I love instructing the kids.
How can I come to Fontainebleau from Paris?
You can come by train from Paris, you’ll need to stop either at the "Fontainebleau-Avon" station or the one of "Bois-le-Roi". It is an approximately 30-min ride from Paris (from Gare de Lyon). I'll pick you up there.
You can of course come by car as well. It's the easier and the most flexible.
What happens if the weather forecast turns bad?
If I consider that the weather won’t allow us to climb safely, we’ll try to change the day, based on your availabilities and mine. We could also go and climb indoor in the climbing gym of Fontainebleau or one of the gyms in Paris (you’ll need to cover the entrance fee). If these alternatives are not possible, you’ll get a refund.
Is it possible to climb for 1/2-day, instead of a full day?
Yes, of course. You’ll find the details for the 1/2 day tour here: https://www.explore-share.com/trip/half-day-bouldering-in-fontainebleau-near-paris/. You'll be bouldering for 3 hours during the 1/2-day tour, and 6 hours during the full-day tour.
We can also plan a multi-day bouldering tour together.

We had a really fantastic day of bouldering in Fontainebleau with our guide Ivan. He is very experienced and knows the region well. He showed us great boulders and routes that we would not have found on our own, and kept a good pace to keep us going for the full six hours.

Ivan was very mindful with different characters of the large group. Ivan is a very experienced boulderer and could share his knowledge in an easy way to give a good start to the group. Furthermore he took pictures and give helpful advises for the rest of our trip.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
