Description

Join me on a true hiking adventure through the valleys, lakes, and peaks of the High Tatras! See the natural beauty of Slovakia by passing through beautiful meadows as you explore one of the most popular destinations in the country.

The High Tatras mountains, located on the border of northern Slovakia and southern Poland, are home to some of the best panoramic views in the world. The diverse mountain landscapes progress from lakes and valleys to gorgeous high peaks in this exceptional slice of nature.

Keep your eyes peeled for mountain goats, marmots, and other animals. You are most likely to see some incredible inhabitants who live in the area and will enrich your experience traversing the valleys.

The mountain lakes of absolute purity are set against the backdrop of the incredible mountain range, and with fewer people on this route, it will be more intimate and enjoyable.

On this adventure, we will enjoy every aspect of nature: the serenity of flower-filled meadows and their wildlife, rugged mountain paths running alongside crisp glacial lakes, and nothing but perfect views.

We will start your trek at the infamous Strbske Pleso, the second-largest alpine lake on the Slovakia side of the High Tatras. I will take you into the Furkotska Valley, around two Wahlenbergers lakes of immaculate beauty.

We will hike to Furkotsky Peak (2405m) behind the larger of the lakes, and enjoy the panoramas with a bit of rest. Traveling around Bystra Lavka (2300m) and down into Mlynicka Valley will give us ample opportunity to explore the majestic waterfalls and flowery pastures.

This program is designed for intermediate hikers, and you should be prepared for sustained activity during the trek.

Book now I will show you what a perfect day in the mountains of Slovakia looks like – hiking through the valleys of the High Tatras!

And if you want to check out some other parts of the region, I can take you to Krivan – the Symbol of Slovakia!

Mountain Leader

I'm a UIMLA mountain leader and national tourist guide (for cultural and historical heritage trips).

I was born in Poprad in 1969. From my early childhood, I often looked out my bedroom window into the distance of the picturesque High Tatras, which fascinated me even then. In high school I started going with my friends to a small climbing "expedition" on the surrounding rocks, and later to the High Tatras. Mostly I went with a friend whose father was a member of the Mountain Rescue Service. During my studies at Comenius University in Bratislava, I loved coming back to the mountains.
In 1999 I started actively volunteering paramedic of the Tatra Mountain Rescue Service, and then I was hired there.
Precisely because of my relationship with the mountains I began working as a tourist guide with a focus on mountain areas.
Since 1998 I accompany tourists from around the world to the mountains and surrounding towns.
In 2011 I got certified as mountain leader.
Besides, I have been working as a member of the Council of the Slovak Association of mountain Leaders since it was established in 2011.

What people are saying about Marcel

Samantha

Marcel was an excellent guide who not only information about the hike but also about wildlife, Slovakia and their culture! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him and he even rescued our camera (which I was prepared to leave and take it as a loss) from the gorge! Amazing recovery!

Barbara

The best trip of our lives! It was our first time on a Via Ferrata and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Marcel. First of all, we felt completely safe, and second, we spent a wonderful day with an amazing person with whom we could freely talk in our native language (we highly recommend him to all Poles looking for a mountain guide!). On top of that, for the very first time we have beautiful photos together from such an adventure — Marcel made sure we had this keepsake by taking those incredible shots himself! Truly a priceless experience, and without a doubt, when we want to come back and try something new, we’ll reach out to Marcel again to share another mountain adventure.

Great host with very good communication (perfect spoken English and arrangements/tips) around the trip) . Takes care of you as a solo (tourist) hiker.

Successful, safe and educational hike up and down Mt Rysy from Slovakian side. Provided detailed information on plants, rocks, animals and history of Slovakia. Adjusted pace but kept it challenging. Very good English.
