Description

Find yourself standing on top of the Alps as you enjoy the panoramic vista from the summit of the highest mountain in the Switzerland.  In this program, we will spend time training in the nearby mountains before pushing to the top of the 2nd highest mountain in the Alps!

The Monte Rosa massif, located between Valais, Switzerland and the Aosta Valley in Italy, offers numerous peaks to climbers.  The highest peak in the massif, Dufourspitze, is the tallest mountain in Switzerland at 4,634 meters (15,203 feet), and the 2nd highest in the Alps, behind Mont Blanc. It is a long climb but the views are worth it, as the panorama extends to the Mont Blanc Massif and the Italian Alps.  No previous mountaineering or climbing experience is necessary, but participants should be reasonably fit, preferably active hikers or runners with some multi-day trekking experience.

We have designed this program to be accessible to anyone who has a decent level of fitness, and has the desire to push through to the summit!  But don’t worry – the first 4 days of this program are spent training on the nearby mountains, so you will be familiar with any climbing equipment and well acclimatized before we attempt the summit.  Plus, it’s a great opportunity for us to enjoy the incredible alpine scenery.

Zermatt, Switzerland will be our base for this trip.  As noted in the day-by-day itinerary below, we will spend several nights at mountain huts, with recovery nights spent at your accommodation in town.  Our budget package does not include any climbing equipment, but we can assist you with rental and provide you with a detailed packing list. Lunch, dinner, and other meals are not included in either of our packages.

If you wish to guarantee that you are prepared for this climb, we can offer you a little extra help: our standard package includes an 8 week training plan and 8 skype training calls before your trip.  We have years of guiding experience, and want to make the climb as safe and accessible as possible!

Book now and we will spend 7 days exploring the beautiful Monte Rosa massif together, capping off the week with a a summit of the impressive Dufourspitze, the tallest peak in Switzerland and 2nd highest of the Alps!

Mountain Guide

I am a Slovenian IFMGA mountain guide with the ZGVS.
It was when I was 12 years old that I first climbed a mountain myself and by the age of 15 I had started rock climbing.
Since then, my ascents count up to around 1000, starting from Mont Blanc in the seventies and Triglav north face to Cho Oyu, and all over South America including 18 of the 6000m+ peaks including a first ascent on south face of Aconcagua.

I have climbed and travelled all over the world, Shivlinga, K2, Mt Everest, Manaslu, Shishi Panama, El Cap and sport climbing in Kalymnos and Cuba.

Skiing powder in great conditions and rock climbing under the sun are my motto!

Contact me if you'd like to have fun safely in the mountains with me! If I am unavailable then my trusted friend guides, Franc and Milan, can take care of you!

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
