Description

Come with me and climb the Eiger North Face, an amazing wall of the Swiss Alps.

I have the pleasure to invite you to climb the Eiger North Face. As you may know, it is a big and hard goal for those climbers with some prior experience. Furthermore, its 1.800 meters of altitude will force you to make the ascent in company with a certified mountain guide.

I strongly recommend you to take at least 3 days to get ready for this climb. In addition, we must do some prior training tours in the area to get acclimatized. We can do the Mönch Laupper route or the Laureraarhorn traverse as well as some ice climbing practices. The costs of these training tours will be determined according to the tour. For example, the prices for a day of ice or rock climbing in the Bernese Oberland start from CHF 650.

The Eiger North Face has several transverse pitches. To overcome them safely, you must know how to use all the technical equipment, such as crampons and ropes. In addition to that, it’s very important to have excellent physical condition.

Depending on the weather conditions the round trip can take us around 20 hours. Therefore, I always recommend to divide the trip in two and rest in a bivouac before the descent. However, it is also possible to climb the ice wall and return on the same day.

Regarding the best period to climb the Eiger North Face, it’s difficult to establish a perfect season. All I can say is that the forbidden months are June, July and August due to the high temperatures and the risks of rock slides.

So, if you want more information about these climbing days in the Eiger North Face, please contact me now. It will be an honor for me to help you plan your trip according to your wishes and climb this challenging wall with you!

Mountain Guide

I was born in Grindelwald in 1976, so the mountain has always been my home. I studied forestry after school, and it became my job for some time.
In 1999, I succeeded ascending the North Face of Mt Eiger for the first time. Over time, I took clients in this adventure, one of the most technical climbs in the Alps, several times.
I also went many times to America, to Yosemite, and of course to the Himalayas.
Since 2002, I have been traveling around the world as a professional guide. My passion is the mountains and I want to share it with you.
When you are in the mountains, it doesn't matter whether you are the fastest or the best, but if you can go back with a great experience.

Andreas Abegglen is an outstanding guide. He is a very friendly, very safe and knowledgeable guide. His enthusiasm and love for guiding makes it a joy to climb with him. You will not find a better guide to climb the Norwand of the Eiger with. He knows the Eiger, specifically the Heckmair route like the back of his hand. Just keep in mind that this route is for experienced mountain climbers only and you must be in top physical and mental condition!. That being said the weather and the conditions of the route dictate if and when you climb. Be prepared to spend some time in Grindelwald waiting for the weather to cooperate.
