Huemul Circuit Trekking, El Chaltén

We will begin our adventure in El Chaltén, setting off on a trek toward Laguna Toro. During the first few hours, we will ascend along trails that wind through lenga forests and areas of Andean vegetation, enjoying beautiful panoramic views of Mount Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, and Cerro Solo.

As we continue, the landscape will open up to reveal wide glacial valleys and high-altitude steppe. We will cross a variety of natural environments before beginning our descent into the Tunel River Valley.

Finally, we will reach Laguna Toro, surrounded by imposing mountains and spectacular high-mountain scenery. Here, we will set up our first campsite and rest before the following day's adventure.

After breakfast, we will set off on one of the most challenging and spectacular days of the trek.

We will begin by crossing the Tunel River via a zipline or using the method deemed appropriate by the guide, depending on the conditions. We will then continue across rocky terrain and glacial moraines until we reach the Lower Tunel Glacier area, where we will travel using the appropriate technical equipment.

From there, we will begin our ascent toward Paso del Viento, passing through increasingly open and spectacular high-mountain landscapes.

Upon reaching the pass, we will enjoy one of the most breathtaking views of the entire trek: a panoramic vista of the vast Southern Patagonian Ice Field, with its glaciers and surrounding mountains.

We will then descend toward the campsite, where we will spend our second night surrounded by a remote and truly unique landscape.

We will begin the third day by continuing our trek around the Huemul Massif, following mountain trails with extraordinary views of Viedma Glacier and the Southern Patagonian Ice Field.

During the first part of the day, we will travel across rocky terrain and exposed sections, enjoying privileged panoramic views of the glaciers flowing down toward Lake Viedma.

We will ascend to Paso Huemul, another highlight of the expedition, where we will take in the vastness of Lake Viedma, the imposing face of Viedma Glacier, and the icebergs floating in its waters.

From the pass, we will begin a steep descent across rugged terrain and sections of native forest until we reach the shores of Lake Viedma.

Finally, we will arrive at Bahía de los Témpanos, a place of outstanding natural beauty where we will camp beside the lake, surrounded by mountains and, depending on the conditions, ice fragments calved from Viedma Glacier.

We will spend our third and final night camping in this exceptional Patagonian setting.

After breakfast, we will pack up our campsite and begin the final stage of the Huemul Circuit.

The trail will take us along sections of the shores of Lake Viedma, crossing Patagonian steppe landscapes, gentle hills, and open terrain, with panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

Throughout the day, we will enjoy the final scenic highlights of this trek as we make our way toward the Tunel River Valley.

During the final section, we will cross the Tunel River via a zipline, following our guide's safety instructions.

We will continue hiking to Bahía Túnel, where our trek will come to an end.

From there, we will take the included transfer back to El Chaltén, bringing our four-day adventure to a close after exploring one of Patagonia's most spectacular mountain circuits.
