Type of Trip
This trekking consists in a five day hike around Mt. Huemul, near El Chaltén town. Throughout the years this hike has become one of the most popular in the región.
Its particular components involve different types of terrains, climbs, flora, and fauna allowing us, in only a few days, to get to know remote places, including an amazing view of the Southern Ice Field.
This Circuit involves semi technical terrains, such us snow, glaciers and moraines. With a 60km length, this circuit has from 800 to 1600 mts elevations. Entering from Rio Túnel Valley up to Paso del Viento, by The Viedma Glacier up and out through Paso Huemul.
DAY 1: El CHALTEN –TORO CAMP.
Duration: 6 hs / Elevation: 700 mts.
DAY 2: TORO CAMP –PASO DEL VIENTO HUT
Duration: 6-7 hs / Elevation: 900 mts ascent. 400 mts descent.
DAY 3: PASO DEL VIENTO HUT–VIEDMA GLACIER–PASO DEL VIENTO HUT.
Duration: around 5hs
DAY 4: DEL VIENTO PASS –HUEMUL PASS.
Duration: 6-7 hs. / Elevation: 200mts
DAY 5: HUEMUL PASS – BAHÍA TÚNEL – EL CHALTEN.
Duration: 7-8 hs / Elevation: 600mts descent.

No previous experience is required, but you do need good physical condition, since long hiking journeys are involved in this circuit. We will also carry large backpacks form 15 to 20 kg. You can hire porters.

What happens if I need to cancel the trip?
If you decide to cancel, you’ll get a 100% refund (minus fees) if the cancellation is notified up to 60 days before the start of the tour, a 75% refund (minus fees) if you cancel between 59 and 30 days before the start of the tour, and a 50% refund if you cancel between 29 and 21 days before the start of the tour. If you cancel less than 21 days before the first day of the tour, you won’t receive a refund. Take into account, however, that if accommodation, flights or transfers were included in the trip you booked, then a different policy may apply as the guide will be bound by the provider’s cancellation policy.
What happens if the guide cancels the trip because of bad weather/unsuitable conditions?
If bad weather or unsuitable conditions force the guide to cancel the trip, he or she will: a) propose a similar activity at a different place where conditions are better, or b) propose to postpone the activity until a later date, or c) cancel. If you refuse option a), our cancellation policy will apply. Please note, however, that the call to cancel a trip due to bad weather can only be made by the guide (not the client).
What happens if the guide doesn’t show up or cancels for personal reasons?
If the guide cancels for reason of injury or other, you will get a 100% refund on your trip.
You will need to carry both food and gear, around 15kg.
Hiking boots, rain jacket and pants, lightweight down jacket or similar, hiking pants, thermal underwear, 3 pair of hiking socks, hiking poles, sunglasses, beanie and 50/60 lt pack.

I´ve climbed all along Patagonia, reaching summits such as Cerro Torre, Cerro Fitz Roy, and it’s range. As sport climber I also faced challenges in different spots in Europe and USA.
After many years guiding, I also handle the logistic of the expeditions, and I like to give the best services to the people I guide.
I live and guide mostly in El Chaltén area, and I know every corner of the National Park. I like to plan every detail of the expeditions, and to propose customized programs according to the request and needs of each client.
