Highlights

  • Explore one of the most popular hiking spots in El Chaltén.

  • Reach remote areas and discover a beautiful flora and fauna.

This trekking consists in a five-day hike around Mt. Huemul, near El Chaltén town. Throughout the years this hike has become one of the most popular in the region.

Its particular components involve different types of terrains, climbs, flora, and fauna allowing us, in only a few days, to get to know remote places, including an amazing view of the Southern Ice Field.

This Circuit involves semi-technical terrains, such as snow, glaciers and moraines. With a 60km length, this circuit has from 800 to 1600 meters of elevation. Entering from Rio Túnel Valley up to Paso del Viento, by The Viedma Glacier up and out through Paso Huemul.

No previous experience is required, but you do need good physical condition since long hiking journeys are involved in this circuit. We will also carry large backpacks form 15 to 20 kg. You can hire porters.

About the Guide

AAGM Mountain Guide from Argentina.

I´ve climbed all along Patagonia, reaching summits such as Cerro Torre, Cerro Fitz Roy, and it’s range. As sport climber I also faced challenges in different spots in Europe and USA.

After many years guiding, I also handle the logistic of the expeditions, and I like to give the best services to the people I guide.

I live and guide mostly in El Chaltén area, and I know every corner of the National Park. I like to plan every detail of the expeditions, and to propose customized programs according to the request and needs of each client.

What People are Saying about Simón Brun

We wish we could have Simon as our guide on every trek we do. His mountaineering experience and extensive knowledge of the area was impressive and definitely enhanced the trek for us. On top of this, we got along great with Simon and appreciate his easy going personality and sense of humor. We will definitely request Simon as our guide for the next hike we do from El Chalten!
