Description

Let me invite you to a stunning glacier, very close to Ushuaia, Argentina. The Martial Glacier is perfect for those looking for a short hike that will give them enough time to explore the city in the afternoon.

From Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, there’s a ski lift station that takes us all the way to the glacier, one of the most important touristic attractions of the area. From there, we’ll explore this mountain landscape with incredible crystal clear streams. This site also offers stunning views of the Beagle Channel and the Island of Navarino. We’ll cover 7.3 kilometers in 3 and a half hours.

The Martial Glacier reaches an altitude of 1,050 meters above sea level and is the most important source of drinking water for Ushuaia. You can visit it any time of the year but hiking is best during the spring and summer months when there is less snow. However, if you do prefer to visit during the winter, it is still possible.

Ready for a fun hiking day trip in Ushuaia? Then follow me to the Martial Glacier and spend the afternoon exploring the city!

For more hiking day trips in Ushuaia, be sure to check out the ones I offer to Laguna Esmeralda or to Cerro del Medio.

Mountain Guide

Mountaineering is part of my life since I was a child. I'm from Ushuaia and now I'm leaving in El Chalten, two of the most beautiful places in Patagonia for hiking, skiing, climbing and feeling the strong and pristine Patagonian nature.

I started guiding in 2014 and it has turned a way of leaving. I have worked in many areas of the Andes Range, from the low and sharp mountains in Ushuaia until the high mountain in the Real Range (Bolivia), and many trekking and mountains in North Patagonia Area (Bariloche) and Central Andes (Mendoza). Now in El Chalten I guide many beautiful trekking in the area. I guide the treks in Los Glaciares National Park under license of Zeta Trek.

I'm also an experimented climber and a certificated climbing monitor FASA (Argentinian Federation of Skiing and Andinism). And I'm studying Waldorf Pedagogy oriented to physical activity.

Please get in touch with me if you wish to be guided in South Patagonia this summer! or to organize a beautiful adventure in the Andes whenever you feel it's the moment to experiment something new.

Lilen was a fantastic guide for our group. She educated us during our trek on the native plants, wildlife, surrounding geology and mountain topography. Shared amazing stories of people she has met, additional day hiking options in the area, and attempted to help improve our Spanish vocabulary. She did this all while making sure the actual trek was safe, enjoyable and not too strenuous. At times it felt just like we were hiking with a friend that we had total trust in rather than a stranger leading us through a majestic 4 day trek through the Andes. In all we had a blast and loved the entire experience. Thanks Lilen.
