Description

Enjoy a unique outdoor Slovenia family adventure near Lake Bled. Create unforgettable memories with your loved ones in the company of a certified guide!

Outdoor adventures are an ideal option for family holidays. Spending time outdoors is revitalizing and fun for everyone. Furthermore, a program like this one provides a great setting to build confidence, and learn about nature and teamwork. Going with a certified guide ensures that everyone is safe and that the program is suitable for all. Additionally, parents can delegate some of the planning and relax alongside their kids.

During this four-day multi-activity program, we can go hiking, rafting, mountain biking, canyoning, rock climbing, zip-lining, and/or on a fun via ferrata. The minimum age to join is 6 years old. If we create an itinerary that includes tackling Triglav, then the minimum age is 10. We’ll organize the program together, according to your wishes and expectations. You can find a tentative itinerary below to get an idea of all the fun that we can have!

Moreover, this Slovenia family adventure is a great way to discover the area around Lake Bled in the stunning Julian Alps. Some of the places we can visit include Lake Bled proper (famous for its pilgrimage church set on Bled island which is surrounded by the sparkling waters of the lake), the Karavanke Mountain Range, Kranjska Gora, the beautiful Soca River, Bovec, the Boka and Kozjak Waterfalls, and Lake Bohinj, among others.

If the weather is bad, we will find fun alternatives for the whole family. Some examples include visiting the Bled Vintar gorge, the mountaineering museum in Moijstrana, visiting the Postojna cave and Predjama castle in Ljubljana, and heading to the aqua park in Bohinj. Including any of these activities either before or after your 4-day adventure is also a great way to make the best of your trip. Slovenia is a beautiful country with plenty to discover in all kinds of weather.

In terms of accommodation, it will depend on the final program and your requirements/wishes. Additionally, on day 2, we can spend the night in one of the lovely Slovenian mountain huts. Some of the accommodation options that we recommend include:

Accommodations in Bled:
– Garden Village Bled (glamping tents)
– Penzion Berc
– Lovec Hotel

Accommodations in Bovec
– Dobra Vila
– Hotel Mangart

Accommodations in Ljubljana
– Vander Hotel

Itinerary

Day 1: Mountain biking around Lake Bled

On Day 1, we’ll go mountain biking around Lake Bled. There are itineraries for all levels, from beginners to really experienced mountain bikers, so I’m sure we’ll find a challenging one for you and your group.

Day 2 to 3: Mount Triglav or Seven Lakes

On Days 2 and 3, we could climb Mount Triglav. Triglav is the highest peak in Slovenia and an important part of the country’s identity: in fact, it is pictured on its coat of arms. Triglav can be climbed year-round although the ascent is definitely more challenging during the winter.

If you’d like a more mellow (but still challenging) hike, we could spend Days 2 and 3 hiking around the Seven Lakes Valley and the Komna-Soca Valley. The first of the 2 days can be spent going from Blato Meadow to the hut by the Seven Lakes and then on to Konma Hut. This area is one of the most beautiful parts of the Julian Alps! On the second day, we can either go back to Blato through a different trail or continue all the way to Bovec, known as Slovenia’s water sports center.

Day 4: Triglav National Park

And then finally, on the last day, we can do some scenic driving around Triglav National Park stopping every 10-30 minutes for points of interest and different activities – including short hikes, swimming and rafting. Some of the landmarks we’ll see on this day tour are Lake Bled, the Karavanke Mountain Range, Kranjska Gora, the Soca River, Velika Korita Soce, Bovec, Kobarid, Boka Waterfall, Kozjak Waterfall and Bohinj Lake.

Alternatively, if you’d like more of an adrenaline rush, you can choose to devote Day 4 to rafting and maybe even some canyoning or zip-lining!

Mountain Guide

I am a UIAGM mountain guide, ski instructor and sports teacher and the current president of the Slovenian Mountain Guide Association.

I am still the only guide who can make a living working exclusively in Slovenia. I climb Triglav more than 25 times per year, which means I have climbed the most famous peak in my country over 200 times.

If you want to climb or ski in Slovenian mountains I am the right choice. I guide via ferrata, rock climbing, snow climbing, ice climbing, hikes, heliski, freeride skiing and ski touring.

Slovenia has good options for all of these activities, so you are welcome to take a look at my trips and find something for yourself. If you don't find anything let me know and I will see if I can help you!

I speak English. Ich sprache auch ein bischen Deutsch. Parla anche un pocho Italiano e abla tambien un po Espanol.

If I am not available to guide you, one of the super experienced guides in my team - Rok, Peter, Grega or Igor - will be your guide.

We booked a weekend trip to summit the Triglav. Mitja was very kind and helpful from the start (even before the trip, he was very responsive and helpful through e-mail). We were kindly picked up early in the morning and brought back the second day. Mitja was very communicative from the start, checking in if we we're doing okay and if the pace was good and answering all our questions. We could tell that Mitja had a lot of experience in the mountains and as a guide, which made us feel comfortable and safe from the start. It was great to have two guides at the summit as we we're a group of three. This was our first experience summiting in the winter and it was a great one. Thank you so much Mitja and team for making this amazing experience possible!

Mitja was an amazing guide and especially a great companion on this tour. Mitja was easy to communicate with when planning the trip, well reflected about conditions and honest about best possibilities on how to spend these days in Slovenia. Mitja is a caring character giving all of us a feeling of beeing welcome on the tour. He adjusts his walking & skiing to group capabilities and is flexible with any planning - you get the feeling that it is "your tour". He knows the terrain extremely well and will share a lot of information about the surroundings. He took us to amazing sunsetting spots just next to Triglav Mountain for a last decent of the day and is only one of two guides having stored equipment in the remote mountain hut in the middle of Triglav National Park. Mitja is fun and communicative and easy to get a connection with. However he also leaves space for any character and does not try to "entertain" continuously which we highly appreciated. We can absolutely recommend and to reach out to Mitja for any trip in the Alps and in Triglav National Park especially. All the best from Germany, Lukas & Martin

Actually, due to the weather conditions, there are no ice for climbing. Mitja was very nice to offer us other options. We chose hiking in snow near Vogel instead. Mitja was very nice and professional. He provide sufficient gears and useful advice. Walking in snow was hard to balance, and the wind was very strong upside. But the view was magnificent and worthy. It was a very unique experience!

Our guide Matea was very knowledgeable and personable. Even with varrying levels of experience and abilities within our group, Matea was able to make it an enjoyable experience for all. I am very thankful for his leadership and recommendations and decisions as a guide to keep us safe and make the hike as successful as it could be.
