Description

Come join me in this exciting Splitboarding adventure in Hakuba, one of the most incredible backcountry destinations in the North Japan Alps.

Hakuba is a ski resort village in the northwest corner of the Nagano Prefecture. It’s a renowned snowboarding area which includes 10 ski resorts and has an average annual snowfall of 11 meters!!!

It’s located only 1 hour away from Nagano train station. So, if you’re in Tokyo you can take the JR Hokuriku Shinkansen (bullet train) that will last less than 2 hours and I’ll pick you up right when you step down from the wagon.

And once we arrive to the snowboarding area you’ll enjoy the incredible scenery, the beautiful mountains and, specially, the great amount of powder to ride through.

You can choose to go to lift assisted backcountry regions or go a little further away with our split-boards and enjoy wild alpine  slopes. Each day will be a new adventure.

We can spend 2 days snowboarding this incredible terrain, but we can also stay more days so you can explore more spots and enjoy more powder!

And at the end of the trip I’ll take you back to the Nagano train station, where you can get the Hokuriku shinkansen back to Tokyo.

So send me a request make this Splitboarding trip in the Hakuba area your next amazing adventure. We’ll talk about your goals and expectations to make them all come true!

Take notice that both skiers and snowboarders al welcomed!

And if you’re looking for another Japanese destination to practice snowboard, you might also be interested in my Freeride snowboarding trip in Nozawa Onsen.

About the guide

To become a mountain guide had been my dream since I first started climbing mountains, and I have been a mountain guide since 2001 as well as an IFMGA guide since July 2014. I am very happy with the opportunity I have as a guide to share my experience, knowledge and skills with everyone that I go guiding with. I still remember the mix of fear, excitement and nervousness the first time I traversed the Daikiretto (a long knife edge ridge in the Northern Japanese Alps) during my first big climbing trip in the Northern Japanese Alps. I felt as if my heart was going to jump out of my mouth! But at the same time I felt so vividly alive and felt the kind of happiness that I had never felt before. It was a life changing experience and want to share this kind of feeling with my clients. My favourite mountain areas are vicinities of Mt Hotaka and Mt Tsurugi in the summer and Yatsugatake in the winter. I have guided backcountry skiing in Nagano areas (Hakuba, Nozawa Onsen) as well. I have also climbed extensively around the world, from Ultar Star in Pakistan to routes in Yosemite in the USA and several peaks in Chamonix in France.
