Description

Hiking is definitely the best way to explore an area, especially if it’s new to you. I would like to invite you to hike around the Los Glaciares National Park, Argentina with me on this incredible one-day trip to Loma del Pliegue Tumbado.

Our hiking adventure will begin in El Chaltén, Santa Cruz. We’ll then take the trail to the top of Loma del Pliegue Tumbado. This trail combines different ecosystems, such as scrublands, an Andean Patagonian forest and a high mountain environment. From the summit, we’ll get outstanding panoramic views of the whole area including the Fitz Roy Range, Cerro Torre, Adela Range, Solo Mountain, Toro Valley, Huemul Mountain and Viedma Lake. Finally, after a break, we’ll descend to our starting point following the same route.

The hike takes approximately 9 hours and covers 12.4 miles. We’ll ascend 1,000 meters, which is why I recommend this trip to participants with some hiking experience and in excellent physical shape. Although the trail is open year-round, the best season is from October to May.

I was born and raised in Patagonia. As a child I adopted the mountains as a way of life and now it is my honour to share my passion for this incredible landscape with all travellers who come looking for adventures.
