Description

When it comes to ice climbing in Norway, there are few, if any places as well known, and as amazing as Rjukan. And on this 4-day trip, you will have plenty of time to enjoy a number of wonderful ice falls in the popular climbing area. Furthermore, this 4-day trip also acts as a beginner level ice climbing course. So, along with having a great time, you will learn a great deal about the fundamentals of ice climbing as well.

Within Rjukan, there are over 150 frigid ice falls you can enjoy and learn from. And on this trip, you will get to climb on a number of them. When it comes to which ones we choose, the decision will be based on your skill level, weather conditions and personal preferences.

The first day of the course will revolve around your arrival, introductions and transport to Rjukan. The following three days will revolve around a number of different, important and fun lessons on the ice falls. Some examples of what you will learn about include top roping, ice screws, abalakov (v-tread) and much more. And, you can be sure that whatever you learn, you will get to immediately practice on the beautiful ice falls.

In order to participate on this trip, you should be in good physical condition. You should also have prior climbing experience and know how to belay, both on top rope and lead.

The lofty ice climbing reputation of Rjukan is very well earned. And on this 4-day trip, you will get to see why. To join me on this adventure where you will get to learn just as much as you will get to enjoy, please send me a request.

I also lead a shorter, 2-day, beginner level ice climbing course in Rjukan as well.

I started working as a full time climbing instructor in 2011, and since then I haven't looked back. I love being in the wild nature, and I believe I have the best job in the world!

During the winter months, I live in Rjukan, the most fabulous place for ice climbing. You have to see it to believe how great this place is! Book me for a course or guided climbing in this ice paradise.

I also travel a lot for climbing and guiding. Places that I return to over and over again are Kalymnos and Mallorca.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with me, and I promise a rewarding and inspirational experience!

We booked Jørn for a custom ice climbing course with only two of us, and had a great ice climbing week. Jørn is very well familiar with the whole area and brought us to various beautiful waterfalls and teached us in a very good way. Besides being a very experienced guide, he also takes care of the ice climbing area/community around Rjukan and maintains approach paths and fixed rappel anchors etc - really nice work. Especially the climb of Rjukanfossen was beautiful, with a interesting approach (rappelling into the gorge), a very big fat waterfall to climb in a few pitches and a snow-swimming exit ;) We stayed in Jørn's house as the Old School Hostel was overbooked, which was good - we had a proper sleep compared to a hostel ;).
