Description

Leonidio has recently gained its place among some of the best climbing hotspots in the world. It's one of the biggest and most beautiful limestone crags in Europe and it still offers a lot of potential for further development of new climbing routes.

Together with my partner Kyriakos, we offer a 6-day climbing course designed to take you through the nicest sport climbing crags in Leonidio and climb a few of the classic multipitches around. The course is also meant to offer guidance and training workshops for sport and multipitch and to develop your personal experience on the rock.

The small town of Leonidio lays on the Greek coast of the Mediterannean Sea, not far from the city of Athens (3.5 hours drive). The climbing cliffs surround the town creating a beautiful mixture between mountains and the sea, while the evening attractions like local pubs and fishing taverns offer a friendly atmosphere and a good relaxing time after a day of climbing.

The climbing is very varied and it comes in many forms with spectacular tufas and overhanging walls to vertical and technical climbing and also a big selection of accessible and easy routes. The walls are also high and offer plenty of potential for multipitch routes with great rock and beautiful views around the area and the sea.

Usually (but depending on weather conditions) the daily program starts in the morning and ends late in the afternoon, giving you the chance to spend some time to discover the town and its attractions as well.

The best time for climbing in Leonidio is late autumn, when the mediterannean climate is bringing mild temperatures and sunny skies.

Located on the east coast of the Peloponnese Peninsula, Leonidio is relatively easy and quite inexpensive to reach. You can get there either by plane and car or by plane and bus. You can find more information below.

Please note the training workshops can be customized according to your personal or groups abilities and experience. The course is suitable either for beginners or advanced climbers, in good physical shape.

Mountain Guide

I’m an IFMGA mountain guide, a geographer and a passionate alpinist and climber.

I started going in the mountains as a child, at first very close to my home, in the Romanian Carpathians. In these mountains I discovered the passion for outdoor activities and climbing. It was not long until I started discovering other mountains and their challenges and I began building a "mountain climbing lifestyle".

I went in different expeditions around the world and I am always looking for interesting challenges in far away mountain ranges. As often as possible I spend my time in the Alps, training, climbing and enjoying life.

I became a national mountain guide in Romania in 2011. Since then, I love sharing my passion for the mountains and I enjoy taking clients to incredible places. I'm also a volunteer in educational activities to promote the values of authentic alpinism.

I believe in self development and always getting better at what I do, so in 2015 I joined the IFMGA mountain guide training program at EEMGA (East European Mountain Guides Association) and became a fully certified IFMGA mountain guide in 2018.

It will be my pleasure to guide you in any adventure in the mountains.

En flott tur i fin natur. Vi fikk vite mye om isbreens tilstand og vi fikk prøvd både isklatring og via Ferrata. Guiden snakket flytende engels så det var lett å kommunisere. En behagelig og artig tur med litt utfordringer.

I spent 3 very exciting days at Balea Lake having very good snow and weather conditions. Accomodation at Paltinu Hotel was good and evenings passed quickly meeting all different type of mountain people :-). Skitours started from Paltinu Hotel (2034m) up to different mountain saddles (ca. 2300m) on skis. Going further to summits was possible but quite challenging as we had to climb in 1m of fresh snow carrying skis on the backpack. Nevertheless we had a lot of fun and Mihnea guided in all situations safely.
