Highlights

This 6 day mountaineering journey through the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland is definitely a trip for adventurers. Every day of this expedition will see you climbing and trekking at high altitudes through some of the grandest and most impressive peaks in the Alps. As a result, all participants of this trip must be in excellent physical condition. They should also have prior mountaineering experience. However, if you fit that criteria, you are in for a treat!

Beginning in Grindelwald, we will take a wonderfully scenic train ride Alpiglen. From there, while under the watchful eyes of the Eiger mountain’s north face (3,970m), we will hike up to the Rotstock (2,663m) by way of a via ferrata. After that thrilling activity, we will descend on paths you can barely see to the Eigergletscher station (2,320) before moving on to the Kleine Scheidegg (2,061m), where we will spend the night. And that’s just the first day. You still have 5 more to go in the Bernese Oberland!

Over the course of the rest of the trip, you will make your way on another train ride to the Jungfraujoch (3,534m). You will get to visit and admire the Aletsch glacier, which is the largest glacier in Europe. You will make your way through the famous Grimsel pass. And you may even possibly see the Rhone glacier. And every night, you will get to rest in comfortable gites, dorms, and mountain huts before we return to Grindelwald.

Every minute of this trip, you will be high in the Alps of the Bernese Oberland. You will get to see the peaks’ faces, while feeling their crisp breath. It’s an experience you will never forget. So send me a request, come to Switzerland and have an adventure!

Are you looking for another adventure? Ski touring perhaps? If so, come and join me on the famed Haute route on this 8 day excursion.

    About the Guide

In 1987 I became a certified mountain guide after an intense four-year training program at the Technical University of Munich, thus becoming the first guide from the Netherlands to be IFMGA-certified and probably worldwide one of the first guides not originating from an alpine country. As a guide, I do everything from beginner courses in the Alps to worldwide climbing expeditions to the Seven Summits.

Based in Switzerland, just a few kilometers from the French town of Chamonix, I offer customized programs, tailor-made for each of my clients. As an alpinist and mountain guide, I’ve participated in many succesful expeditions, including Mt. Everest (north and south sides), Cho Oyu and Shisha Pangma (Tibet), Aconcagua (Argentina), Yerupaja South Face and Huascaran (Peru), Ojos del Salado (Chile), Mt Hunter and Denali (Alaska), Elbrus (Russia) Carstensz Pyramid (West Papoua) and Kilimanjaro (Tanzania). I’ve led two UIAA expeditions for talented young climbers: one in China and one in Pakistan. Both were very successful and led to the opening of some new (and sometimes difficult) routes. I’m always looking for new and challenging ski areas and, in recent years, have specialized in ski safaris and ski touring in the Alps, Morocco, Canada, Chile and Scandinavia. Adventure skiing is my passion since a long time and the challenge is to find the best snow and safe skiing and have fun with the group in a remote location. A father of 2, in my spare time, I like to go skiing, mountain biking and climbing with friends and family.

What People are Saying about -Edward Bekker

Fantastic trip with a great group! Edward made the most of the spring conditions. We were blessed with sunny days - touring in shorts and t-shirts. Beautiful views, skiing over fjords, after great ascents! Long descents, all in all an amazing week!!

My first proper ski touring trip and I didn’t really know what to expect...it was amazing In every respect. The scenery was stunning and accommodation perfect at MIT FabLab. Haakon looked after us at FabLab and Edward out on the mountain. I felt safe and exhilarated at the same time. The group were diverse with a sense of fun and a common interest in being out on the mountains. It really was a privilege for me to share the week with them. I look forward to another trip next winter. Bob
