Description

Head to the Aosta Valley for the family adventure of a lifetime on a two-day program filled with twists and turns – and climbs! This guided trekking and climbing program in the heart of the Pennine Alps takes place in one of Italy’s most fascinating regions, featuring amazing geology and a rich history that is sure to please the entire group!

In the northwest of Italy, bordering France and Italy, the Aosta Valley has become synonymous with Alpine culture. It sits below some of the most infamous peaks of Europe – Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, and the Matterhorn – and is the highest part of Italy. This has cultivated the mountainous identity of the valley that makes it an exhilarating destination for hiking, climbing, mountaineering, and skiing.

This program is the perfect way to break into Aosta Valley, serving up two dynamic days of activities including climbing and trekking. An overnight in a true mountain refuge, the Arp Refuge, brings the whole trip together and is sure to satisfy the greenhorns and veterans alike.

We will meet in Brusson or Estoul Village and spend our first day trekking to the refuge. The trail is accommodating to all groups and provides a captivating trek throughout the journey. It is even accessible by car should it be necessary. Both meeting points provide seamless travel to the refuge and are equally manageable.

Once we reach the refuge, we will explore the area surrounding it, which includes clear lakes – such as Valfredda Lake and Lake Coliou – and is within walking distance of safe and fun climbing cliffs. These rocks are a perfect mix of thrill and ease so every member of the group can take part. You will enjoy evocative views as you make your way up manageable slabs of Alpine rock. The equipment is included, so just bring your passion for climbing and you will have an absolute blast.

After a night in the charming refuge, you will hike to Battle Lake, the largest of the Palasinaz Lakes. It is a delightful excursion, immersing you in the forests and mountain pastures of the valley. The culture behind the unforgettable scenery is just as compelling. Incomparable vistas will accompany you every step of the way, and the trail is never too difficult. This is an adventure the whole family will love.

If you feel like two days isn’t enough, we can certainly add on more days to your program. We can include Champoluc or Saint Jacques, which would feature a simple transfer and an additional night in an all new refuge – Ferraro Refuge. From there, you can expect an enchanting trek to Blu Lake or even to the cross at Palon de Resy and its outstanding mountain views.

An alternative trip can also include Valpelline. A night in the Crete Seche Refuge will allow us another day of great climbing, and the abundance of Alpine lakes throughout the region makes a walk in any direction a pleasant trek just waiting for you. The options are endless, so let me know what you want from your trip and I can tailor it to fit you and your group. We can come up with a trip length and itinerary that works best for your schedule and plans.

This program is perfect for everyone, from first-time pioneers to weathered journeymen. We will have a safe, satisfying, and all-around fun time while taking on the immense – and immensely spectacular – Aosta Valley. If you want to build on your passion for the outdoors, this is the place for you.

Successful summit to the top of Matterhorn! Managed to get a clear day which was lucky. Views and pictures were incredible. The guide Franchini was a top guy. His experience put me at ease having climbed Lhotse in the past. Very knowledgeable. He prioritised safety the whole time. Me being English and him Italian. We found it hard to understand each other occasionally. Which I felt could be very frustrating for him at times. I didn’t take this personally as I just tried to follow his instructions as best as I could. Considering our differences we always laughed in the end. I would consider him a friend now. Silvia was also helpful for preparation. Much appreciated.

We've got an amazing accent to the beautiful place. Team was very proactive to identify that weather would be not so well at the day we planned originlly and suggester to move it earlier or later one day. I took an option to stay one day longer and the weather vaw beautiful, conditions were great. Thanks a lot to the team and our guide Livio!
