Description

With an array of great valleys to choose from, the Grand Brianconnais is a rock climbing paradise.

From May to October, you will get to enjoy some of the most amazing spots in the Hautes-Alpes of France. Filled with cliffs of limestone and sensational views of various valleys and peaks this full day trip will be truly memorable.

Within the Grand Brianconnais there are 4 amazing mid-altitude natural climbing areas that you can choose from. Those areas are the Pays des Ecrins, the valley of Guisane, the valley of the Claree and Le Queyras. Within each of those areas there are several cliffs you can climb. For example, in the Pays des Ecrins there is Ponteil, Fournel and Tenailes de Montbrison. While in the valley of Guisane there is Serre Chevalier, and in the valley of the Claree there is Nevache. Finally, in Le Queyras there is an enormous massif filled with great walls in the regional natural park.

With so many great rock climbing spots to choose from, there will be no issue finding the right one for you.

For this particular trip it is important you have some previous rock climbing experience, at least 5b. Participants must be at least 14 years or age, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. It is also important you are in good physical condition.

Participants should bring the following items with them: sunglasses, helmet, fleece jacket or warm sweater, light but strong pants, a pair of shoes fit for trail walking, climbing shoes, harnesses, a small backpack (30-40L), a gourd, some food, sunscreen, lip balm and a camera, valid identity card or passport.

Meeting point

The meeting point will be established prior to the beginning of the trip and will depend on the climbing location. While transportation is not included in the price, I would be happy to consider a carpool if we can set up a meeting place between my home and the trip's starting point. We had a fantastic trip. Our guide kept us safe, but also stretched us and taught us new skills along the way - it doesn't get much better than that!
