2 Days

Mar - Nov

* Explore 2 of the most iconic peaks in the Bernese Alps.

* Contemplate dazzling views form the top of the moutnains.

* Organize the program according to your preferences.

Climb 2 of the most iconic 4000-meter peaks of the Bernese Alps: Jungfrau (4158m) and Monch (4107m). These renowned summits can often be climbed the whole year-round (except Dec-Feb).

The trip will start in Grindelwald from where we will take the train to reach the Jungfraujoch station (3454m). The new gondolas of the “EIGER Express” starting from Grindelwald are faster than the old train and we save close to an hour to get up to the Jungfraujoch, where the climb starts.

We will climb Monch on day 1 and stay overnight at Mönchjochhütte. Then we will climb Jungfrau on the second day. Please be aware that you need to have some experience walking on crampons on steep (40-45 degrees) and mixed terrain (rock and snow).

You’ll find the 2-day program below. Of course, we could also adapt the program based on your wishes. All you need to do is contact us and we will try to adapt to your preferences and needs.

If you are looking for a day trip, Mönch is a great option to be climbed over the south ridge or south-west ridge. Starting with the first cablecar from Grindelwald-Grund,  we can be back in the afternoon to Grindelwald. The normal route (south-east ridge) is a moderate climb through snow ridges and rocky terrain, and the south-west ridge is a more challenging climb (1 guide per 1 client).

So, are you ready to climb the beautiful Jungfrau and Monch? Then contact us now and let’s start planning an unforgettable adventure!

Mountain Guide

I love the mountains and they have been my destiny and my passion for more than 20 years now!
Everyday I feel a big gratitude to work in this outstanding landscapes and being able to inspire my clients - we always have a good time together and make it a unique experience!

I am based in Schaffhausen, a nice historic town in the north of Switzerland and the area of lake constance. From here we have all options, whether it be one-day-trips to eastern- and central alps or whole journeys to foreign countries.

My second base is the small town of Arolla, Valais - all high peaks of the alps are around this area. It is exactly between Zermatt and Chamonix, a perfect place to be...I love the contrast of the different cities!

Together with my team and friends from BERIE alpine school we want to invite you to join our climbs and skiing trips or our trekking trips around the world. In high altitude mountains, I have lot of experience, working many years in this game with well-established partners, for example as guide on Mount Everest (Summit success 2003 with 7 members).

In my program you will find fine mountain journeys with or without skis. We will offer you not just the climb and a summit successes! Mountains are not gyms!

To get in touch with the local people and to understand their way of life and history is an important part of my philosophy. So do not hesitate now to get in touch with me if you want to join in one of our next trips or journeys. It would be a great pleasure to accompany you and have a good time together.

What people are saying about this trip

Great guide, great adventure, though one summit was cancelled due to the weather conditions.

Thomas was just a great guide! It had been awhile since I had been part of a rope team and he kept me in check to get me back in the swing of it. Thoroughly enjoyed it! We only got to summit Monch due to inclement weather rolling in and overnight it got worse. Made the call to come back another time and attempt Jungfrau. Can't wait to climb again with Thomas! Appreciate how easy it is to find a guide when I need one on all of the new routes (for me) that I want to try. Thanks for a fantastic service!

Had a wonderful two days in fantastic weather. Yann was excellent, would highly recommend him.

We had an awesome time in the mountains, Raphael my guide was very friendly, helpful and responsible, and helped the trip to go smoothly at all times. I thoroughly recommend him and the Monch trip. Thanks again for an awesome trip! Warmest. Jason
