Description

Come with me to explore the amazing Weissmies, one of the impressive 82 ‘4000ers’ in the Alps. This program consists on the ascent to Mt Weissmies through the Normal Route. A rewarding experience on the Swiss Alps!

The Normal Route involves climbing up the northwest side of Weissmies. This is a glacier approach to the summit, along the Trift glacier. The main advantage of this route is that it can be achieved in one day. Also, its descent is fairly easier than that of the alternative route on the South side.

The starting point for this program is Saas Grund, close to Saas Fee resort. The walk on the Trift glacier begins at a quite low angle, but becomes steeper further on. The angle of the slopes increases to 50° along the way, as we also encounter crevasses.

Once we reach the Weissmies peak (4,023 m / 13,179 ft), we will experience the exceptional expansive views, which include the impressive neighboring Alpine peaks.

Although it has some challenges – like the altitude and some rock climbing on the ridge-, the Weissmies ascent through the Normal Route is not especially difficult. It is perfectly suitable as an introductory ascent to peaks in this area, or as acclimatization prior to more challenging climbs.

To go on this program, you will need to have a good fitness level and previous experience using crampons.

I look forward to guiding you on this route this season!

Very user friendly platform with timely responses from Explore Share representatives. The trip itself with Tom from Alps Adventures was awesome and ensure that we had an experience that was 100% what we wanted. Recommend both the platform and the guide. Thanks to all for arranging and delivering so well.

I had am amazing time during the 1-day off-piste training course at Hoch-Ybrig. Urs, our main mountain guide, was very helpful in answering my queries before the course, and Lupe from explore-share was helpful in selecting the course. We had 3 groups under Urs, Mario and Patrick, and I was in the group with Patrick. He gave us a lot of nice tips and individualized video analysis. He made a special effort to convey everything in English, since I don't know German. All the participants were very helpful and friendly too! The course is good value for money as skis are included for the weekend in the course price.
