Description

The Aiguille du Peigne (3192m) in Chamonix has been tempting avid rock climbers for generations. Aiguille du Peigne, which translates to “The Comb Needle”, is a fitting name for this sharp granite peak rising toward the sky on Mont Blanc.

One of several needle-like peaks found near Chamonix, the Aiguille du Peigne is by far the most iconic. Plus, easy access and top-notch climbing routes make the Aiguille du Peigne an ideal destination for a day trip from Chamonix.

I offer this day trip exclusively as a private rock climbing tour for 1-2 people, so you can expect a highly personalized experience. Aside from an eagerness to climb, my only requirement is that participants be fit, intermediate level climbers. Ideally, you would have a 5+ level.

We will approach the Aiguille du Peigne via the Contamine Vaucher route. This route is rated as a grade 6a climb and spans approximately 400 vertical meters over a hard granite surface.

We will meet in Chamonix and travel together to the base of the Aiguille du Peigne. I will have a packed lunch ready for you, so no need to worry about meals. At the end of the day, I will accompany you back to Chamonix. I am always happy to provide recommendations on what to see and do in my hometown here in the Alps.

Come and find out for yourself why the Aiguille du Peigne has remained a top destination for climbers in Chamonix for more than a century. Click “Request to book” now to get in touch with me and set up your private tour.

If you are planning to stay more than a day here in Chamonix, I would love to show you the Aiguille du Midi and some of the other great climbing venues on Mont Blanc. I also create fully personalized tours, so don’t hesitate to get in touch with me with any special requests.

Unfortunately our trip did not go as planned due to weather and conditions in the mountains, so we had to change our second objective. Our guides handled that with professionalism and determination, which resulted in a successful summit. We summitted the first mountain as well. Overall it was a successful trip and we are grateful for the opportunity to have experienced the country of Chile the way it happened.

Great experience from start to finish. Lupe found my group a great trip on very short notice and our Guides Carlos and Edu were great. Nice long backcountry tours that led to gnarly terrain in the Maipo Valley. Fantastic experience, highly recommend!

Carlos was guiding us very well in the mountains and he knew perfectly, what he was doing on rock or on ice. However, the communication was not the easiest and we also did not learn as much as we wanted on our two "training days" - it was mostly teaching through doing rather than showing us new techniques.

Had a Wonderful Time in the french alps. However, the down side of it, is that I did not make it to the summit because of the weather, and had to make a U-turn from 4,400m altitude, just 1-2h away from the summit. Now after the first try, I think this can be organised differently so the chance for the summit is twofold or even three fold. How can it be done differently? Acclimatisation can start at Tete Rouse refuge with overnight stay plus two nights at Goutter refuge. If done this way the chance of making it to the Mont Blanc summit increases. You have a bad weather one morning, but you try it from 12noon & have plenty of time as you'll slip at Goutter. If all day has bad weather you try again next morning...

Carlos is a very accomplished rock climber, speaks great English, and is fun to be around. We felt very safe while climbing with him on the Sharks Fin, and learned a lot too.

The whole trip was excellent. Explore share did a great job coordinating. Carlos is an experienced guide and effective teacher. I felt safe with him the whole time we were on the mountain. The weather was terrific and we summited just as expected. I highly recommend Carlos Vasquez for Mont Blanc.

Carlos was a professional and committed guide! We had three great days. He was friendly and guided us savely up to mt blanc. i dont understand the one bad rating carlos got. In my opinion it think it was an bloody amateur which shouldnt have been on mt blanc in the first place. Let me say one thing. If you have no experience on higher mountains and in climbing in general, there is no place for you on mt blanc. train hard, prepare and come with the right expectation!
