8-day splitboarding tour in Montenegro

Beautiful mountains, wild areas, excellent snow conditions and great food and wine. What else would you dream of for a perfect 8-day splitboarding tour?
All these features get together in Montenegro. I invite you to join my program.
We will be located in the wild areas of Kolasin and Durmitor, which usually have good snow conditions during this time of year. The excellent quality of food and wine in this region is an ideal add-on to make this trip unforgettable. And skiers are also welcome!
I will meet you at the Podgorica airport, the capital city of Montenegro. We will then transfer to Kolasin, either by minibus or by jeep, for about 1:30 hours. After checking in at the hotel, we will get ready to start this adventure!
Some of the highlights of this program are:
- Tree and side country snowboarding in Kolasin
- Splitboarding up and snowboarding couloirs on the Bijelasica ridge
- Taking a cable car to the top of Mt. Bijelasica, and descend snowboarding to the south side of the Jelovica valley
- Snowboarding in the Sinjavina Mountain from the Gornje Lipovo valley
- Splitboarding up to the Lucka Gora saddle (1800 m)
- The ascent on Sljeme (2455 m), one of the highest summits of Durmitor
This program is available as a private tour during the month of February, for up to 6 splitboarders / skiers.
The basic equipment you will need for this program is splitboard equipment, warm clothes, crampons and ice axe.
All accommodations costs, both at the Brile boutique hotel in Kolasin and at the Zabljak hotel in Zabljak are included, with half-board. Transfers during the trip are included too!

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival: Podgorica
- Arrival at the Podgorica Airport, in Montenegro
- Meeting at the Arrivals hall
- Transfer to Kolasin (75 km – 1.30 hours – 960 m)
- Check in at the Brile boutique hotel in the center of Kolasin
Day 2: Mt Bjelasica meadows
- Drive from Kolasin to the ski resort (9 km – 15 min)
- Warm up on the pistes of Kolasin 1450 resort; good tree and side country splitboarding
- Short splitboarding up and snowboarding couloirs from Bijelasica ridge
- Return to the Brile boutique hotel
Day 3: Mt. Bijelasica
- Drive from Kolasin to the ski resort (9 km – 15 min)
- Ascent to the top of Mt. Bijelasica with cables; short skinning and splitboarding down south side to Jelovica valley 1200 m
- Skining up (400 m) and snowboarding down on road back to Kolasin ski center
- Return to the Brile boutique hotel
Day 4: Mt Sinjavina - Vrtalo pass - Jablanov peak
- Transfer to the Gornje Lipovo valley (16 k – 30min – 1,350 m)
- 853 m ascent – 3 hours – on a switch back road up to the mountain pass Vratlo
- Ascent to the Jablanov peak
- Descent from the very top, offering wide open terrain all the way down to the parking spot
Day 5: Mt Sinjavina highlands
- Transfer up to the Gornje Lipovo valley (16 km – 30 min – 1,350 m)
- Splitboarding up to the Lucka Gora saddle 1,800 m. following the ridge to 2,100 m. for the best couloir to snowboard down
Day 6: Mt Durmitor - Lake plateau
- Transfer to the Zabljak village on the Durmitor plateau (90 km – 1:30 h)
- Check in at the Zabljak hotel
- Splitboarding tour on Savin Kuk
- 5 m drive to the Zabljak ski resort (1,450 m)
- Lift to 2,010 m
- Short ascent traverse to the Savin kuk (2,322 m)
Day 7: Sljeme ridge, the longest Montenegro descent
- Transfer from the hotel (5 min – 1,450 m)
- Ascent to Sljeme (2,455 m), one of the highest summits of Durmitor
- Descent on the south slope (several options, with vertical drops of over 1,000 m)
- Return to hotel
Day 8: Departure - End of program
- Meeting at the hotel
- Transfer to the Podgorica airport for your departure flight (118 km – 2:20 h)
- End of program!
About the guide
IFMGA Mountain Guide
I was born in Jesenice on 25.03.1967. I’m based in Gozd Martuljek in the Julian Alps, Slovenia. I qualified as an IFMGA Mountain Guide in 2003 and I was President of the Slovenian Mountain Guide Association from 2009-2013. I’ve loved the mountains for as long as I can remember. It started in primary school when I was in the local mountaineering club. In high school I started climbing. Later I joined the mountain rescue team in Kranjska Gora and I have been a member of the rescue team since 1994. I’ve been guiding for the past 11 years in the Alps and all around the world. Each year I usually guide for about 150 days.
Alongside my work, my family (wife, 2 children), travel and mountain photography are my passions.
- Guiding skills: rock climbing, climbing routes, touring ski, ice climbing, winter climbing.
Since 2005 I’m sponsored by Montura and last 6 years I’m skiing on Elan skies.
