Description
The Mattertal and the Saas Valley probably have the most incredible four-thousand-meter peaks in the Alps. However many of them are little-known, almost hidden gems. Those who have had the opportunity to participate in these one-day tours have been surprised by the diversity of routes available.
I have therefore planned some daily programs both in Mattertal and Saas Fee. That way you can live in first person the sensation of being part of such an amazing landscape.
All of them will take no more than half a day. Please find below all the options you can choose in this region.
Alpine climbing tours in Mattertal
DISTELHORN NORTH RIDGE (2806 M)
It's the easiest and shortest tour and one of my favorites. Moreover, it is a suitable climb for mountaineers who want to gain some experience on the rocks. The route consists of a exposed ridge with tricky passages. I will guide a group of up to 3 guests. Price: 550 CHF per person.
SPARRU – FESTIHORN (3248 M)
It's a harder and more technical multi-pitch route. It is a perfect alpine climb for well-trained climbers who want to enjoy a good challenge climbing a wall in Mattertal. The group size cannot exceed 2 participants. Price: 690 CHF per person.
LEITERSPITZEN (3409 M)
A really high altitude climb in a wild and solitary surrounding. You'll have the opportunity to climb above the Täschalp. It's a private tour. Price: 800 CHF per person.
Alpine climbing tours in the Saas Valley
JEGIGRAT (3368 M)
A varied and elegant climbing day through excellent rough walls with incredible rock edges. An intermediate-hard ascent. It's a private tour. Price: 720 CHF per person.
SONNIGHORN (3487 M)
The Sonnighorn is well-known because of the quality of its rocks. You will enjoy a climbing tour in a lonely atmosphere with stunning views. The ascent takes place over the northwestern ridge and the descent via its southeast or northeast faces. You will need to have prior experience in alpine climbing. I can guide up to 2 people. Price: 690 CHF. 1-2 people.
PORTIENGRAT (3654 M)
It's the most famous alpine tour among the medium-hard climbs in the Saas Valley. A combination of rocky edges and several steep paths. Due to the technical difficulty of this ascent I can guide only one person. Price: 830 CHF per person.
DRI HORLINI (3096 M)
A really beautiful climbing itinerary in which we must cross from one wall to another on rock of exceptional quality. It is a constant change of route jumping splendid cracks. In the east wall there are numerous climbing options of intermediate-hard level, right next to the Almagellerhütte (mountain hut). Group of no more than two participants. Price: 680 CHF per person.
