Climb up to the Mönch summit, an iconic mountain in the amazing Bernese Alps, in Switzerland, along a certified mountain guide.
Join me and let’s climb the Mönch (4107 m) together, in a 1 or 2-day program, according to your experience! It is one of the three 4000 meters peak of the Bernese Alps, together with the Eiger (3970 m) and the Jungfrau (4158 m).
This climb is a perfect way to adapt yourself to the altitude. Also, a great chance to put your mountaineering skills in use, in this specific type of terrain. The Mönch ascent is graded PD, mixed with a sector of 45 degrees or ZS.
I offer a 1-day program, for people with previous mountaineering experience only. The 2-day climb includes 1 day of preparation in the glacier. This way, you will have the opportunity to improve your crampon and climbing skills on the Steingletscher. Most important, after this practice, I need to approve your skills in order for you to climb the Mönch.
Our climb will start from the Jungfraujoch train station (3573 m). From this spot, it is a short hike to the South East Ridge starting point. Then, we will rope up and begin our climb over rock slabs, towards the snow covered ridge.
To the false summit, we will climb on mixed terrain. Also, the crossing to the Mönch main summit may be rather exposed. However, it has a good trail cut into the ice, made by local guides.
Many people underestimate the South East Ridge, because it is quite a short climb. Nevertheless, due to its exposure, it has to be taken seriously. It will take us about 2 to 3 hours to the summit, and 2 hours down.
So, are you in for this exciting climb? Contact me and let’s start planning your ascent to the Mönch! I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. I also offer a guided ascent to Jungfrau and Mönch! You can check it out!
