Jan, Feb, Mar, Nov, Dec
The Lofoten archipelago in Norway is an ice climbers’ dream. Here you will find some of the world’s longest routes: frozen waterfalls are everywhere!
The mountain guides in my team and I have been guiding and setting up first ascents here for many years. Nobody can introduce you to the wonders of ice climbing in Lofoten like we can.
Some of this trip’s highlights:
– Comfortable accommodation – huts or hotels the entire time.
– Low client to guide ratio with UIAGM certified guides.
– Aesthetic ice routes in one of the world’s greatest ice climbing venues.
– Norwegian culture and excellent seafood.
All of my Norway ice climbing programs are arranged on a custom basis and run on a private basis. I will consult you on the suitable itinerary for your skill level and desired climbing objectives.
The dark winter days north of the Polar Circle allow for climbing all winter but this area is best in late February – March, when the light comes back and gives us long enough days to climb these routes without having to use a headlamp.
My private Ice Guiding season books early. Please contact me as soon as possible for details and availability. Please note that I only organize private tours. Unfortunately, I can’t deal with clients looking to join groups. Thank you!
Skill level : I cater my private ice program to climbers of all capabilities, from first timers on the ice too advanced climbers looking to climb long hard routes, Norway has allot of ice climbing for all skill levels.
We will meet in Lofoten. To get to Lofoten, you can fly into Svolvær with SAS or fly to Evenes with Norwegian or SAS. The cheapest is to fly to Evenes but you'll have to drive for 2.5 hours to get to Lofoten. This is a beautiful drive so if you arrive in the daylight it's a plus.
Northern Alpine Guides is based in Lofoten, Norway and is run by IFMGA-certified guide Seth Hobby and his wife Maren Eek Bistrup. They offer climbing and ski touring trips, both tailor-made and for groups.
Their base camp in Kavelbag, Lofoten - the Lofoten Ski Lodge - is the ultimate spot to have a true Arctic experience while enjoying comfy accommodation and great food year round.
The team, made up of passionate and certified guides, also runs trips in Alaska, the Alps and Nepal. Whether you are a beginner or an accomplished alpinist or ski tourer, you can count on having the time of your life in the company of Northern Alpine Guides.
Had a great trip climbing Svolvaergeita with Sebastian. He was a friendly and competent guide and dealt really well with my friend's fear of heights. Trips aren't cheap, but worth every penny! Would definitely do more trips with these guys in the future!
Extremely knowledgeable and competent on local climbs / activities. Services in Norwegian, English and more!!
Sebastien is a super attentive guide, always watching the safety and comfort of his clients. Very nice with that 🙂 He was also perfectly able to find the ideal route: not too simple, with just the right amount of challenge to enjoy without stress. And what a view at the top of Svolvaergeita! Thanks again Sebastien, and good luck to you in this beautiful country!

Seth was an excellent guide with a wealth of knowledge and very interesting to chat to. I was nervous about the climb but felt incredibly safe under his instruction. The day was fantastic, I highly recommend it to anyone who can stomach the heights!
I had a great time with Charlie, my climbing guide. He was very professional and taught me new tricks and techniques.
Lofoten Ski Lodge is a pleasure for all senses and takes service to the next level. While other resorts or hotels have to mobilise a whole lot of service to make their guests feel comfortable, Seth and his crew have a unique way of creating a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel looked after and taken care of. Thank you for another great weekend!
Thank You guys for another great getaway experience! The lodge, the food, the nature, the guests, the guides all equally fantastic. Two years in a row makes this a tradition - we'll see you next winter again!
