Description

Mala Fatra is a beautiful Slovakian mountain range, with an amazing main ridge 38 km long. It is part of the Western Carpathians range.

The terrain is a little more exposed than Veľka Fatra but not as difficult as the High Tatras Haute Route.

During the trip, the accommodation in a mountain hut right on the crest allows you to fully enjoy the atmosphere of this unique Slovak mountain range. We will move around in a car and using local bus service.

I like to guide this special program for the beautiful line of the main ridge and the more exposed sections where you need to mobilize your courage.

You will find the detailed program below, but please note that I can modify it according to your wishes.

Do you find this trip interesting? Then please contact me! I would like to share it with you. Your safety and satisfaction are my priorities. I also offer a ski touring in Slovakia trip to explore 5 mountains in 5 days, check it out!

More info

All meals are included except for lunch on day 1 and dinner on day 2.

How to arrive to the starting point:
- By plane: The High Tatras has a small airport, Poprad-Tatry field (tel. 052/776-3875; www.airport-poprad.sk), which offers limited passenger air service depending on the season. The airport is located about 5km (3 miles) outside of town and is reachable by car or taxi (but not public transportation).
- By train: Poprad is a major rail junction and ZSR state railroad train service is relatively frequent to and from Bratislava, Zilina, and Kosice. From Bratislava, the journey on an express train takes about 5 hours; from Zilina, 2 hours, and from Kosice, 2 hours. From Poprad station, the Tatra Electric Railroad runs directly to Stary Smokovec and Strbské Pleso, about 30 minutes to Starý Smokovec and 1 hour to Strbské Pleso. To reach Tatranská Lomnica, change trains in Stary Smokovec.
- By car: Poprad lies on Slovakia's major east-west highway. The drive from Bratislava follows the Váh River north to Trencin and Zilina, before turning east. Some of the drive is along four-lane highway and takes about 4 hours. From Kosice, the drive is along mostly two-lane highway and takes about 2 hours.
- By Bus: Bus service is frequent from Poprad to many regional cities and towns, including Bratislava, Kosice, and Levoca.

If you need to rent equipment, I recommend to do it in advance (http://www.sportrysy.sk/clanky/pozicovna-lyzi/, http://www.galfy.sk/servis-pozicovna). If you have your own equipment and you are able to take it along, this is the best option.
